I'd rotate motlop and saad (at different times) through the midfield for 5 mins a quarter. Gotta change it up, imo. Give walsh more minutes up forward, obviously down on confidence/sore (the amount of times he's been caught HTB since the rule adjustment is probably worst in the league). Feels very stale atm.

I’d even throw Curnow in for a centre bounce now and then - would completely confuse the oppo. And he’d be pretty good at tpgetting the ball out and certainly good at delivering it. And then he could run forward relatively loose.

I don't mean to be that guy but what were they thinking hiring this guy?

Mr Cleaver, who is non-binary and is referred to using he/him pronouns in court documents, is now suing Collingwood.

In an application filed with the court, Mr Cleaver described himself as a First Nations person who is gay, in a same-sex relationship and suffers from multiple sclerosis.

Which of those attributes make him unemployable in your opinion?

There's a clear risk that in a footy environment things could go south. If they weren't performing as required and get let go you could see this coming a mile away.

Outlook is good for footy on Saturday night.
Winds becoming light in arvo. Probably no rain.

Pies are a team that doesn't stretch us for height.

Would be great to isolate Curnow with Howe or Quaynor.
Harry too important at CHF roaming to provide the kick down the line, whether CHF or ruck.
Moore will hang at FB

Whilst Carlton only has 36% kicking down the line, McKay goes at 50% for those down the line kicks.
When he's CHF his opponents don't get sucked into play down the ground, and he's free to rule in less dangerous areas.

I hope Weitering doesn't get dragged out of FB following his opponent either McStay or Cox.
Lets hope our defenders are tight and in sync with each other.

C: Acres Cripps Cottrell

HF: E.Hollands McKay Walsh
F: Owies Curnow Fogarty

I: Cowan Motlop Cerra Cincotta
S O. Hollands

E: Marchbank Kemp Carroll ... Martin?? must be close

Cottrell/ O.Hollands as a hard running defensive wing. Not fussed which is sub
Never been a fan of Kemp as a Key defensive tall. He's an utility with an attacking mindset. HB or 3rd Tall forward
Voss likes at least 2 smalls in forward line, so Kemp would be bumped out as Tall Fwd by 3 small forwards.

Toughest midfield group in for the battle: Pittonet Cripps Hewett Kennedy
Walsh can push up into High HF and join mids playing outside.
Cerra to be midfielder on outside too. Hollands in the mid mix too.

Have no choice but to give Pitto a chop out from Harry. I hate Harry playing ruck against Cox.
Kennedy is too small in ruck against Cox and Cameron, so expect Cripps to take a few too.

Hopefully when Cripps rucks weget another mid at stoppage to even up the numbers.
Last time we played Pies they had an extra mid around stoppages. So did Doggies and GWS.
We played a loose behind the ball.
We must equal numbers at stoppages to give us a fair chance.

Cincotta on Nick
Boyd on Hill

I'm feeing nervous about this game. It is SOOOOOOO important, and Pies have primed themselves for Pendles 400th.
I wont be surprised if DeGoey is selected. Good luck to him and his groin against Kennedy and Hewett.

ahhh mate... that midfield group might be tough but it's the slowest group of mids in the comp. i'm not even sure it's vfl quality (for speed). pies will torch us at every 50/50 contest all night long.

this is the game where cerra has to play out of his skin from the opening bounce. he's showed glimpses of AA form, and then does a hammy and takes forever to warm back up.

Gosh you have a tendency to exaggerate braithy. I bet you wouldn't put money on the highlighted comment.

You do realise there's a strong possibility/ probability Cincotta will tag Nick Daicos? That changes things.
You do realise Pies, like Doggies and GWS played an extra at the stoppage and we didn't.

You do realise we got torched on the outside vs Swans because they were disciplined to stay outside, whereas our boys saw ball and got sucked in. Of course teams look quick when they receive ball on the outside unimpeded.

We need to fix that...and we need to keep walsh on the outside like we did in 2022.

Don't look at the selection as 3 mids. It never is. Its a midfield group. Cerra Walsh and Elijah are part of it. I don't want Fogarty in there for plenty of reasons.

We need to win stoppages. Cerra played in there against GWS, and he'll play in there (if Boyd comes back in).

Its the starting group. We have to assert our authority and power. This group has been our most successful regardless of the speed inference.

No good having speed if you don't win the ball. Our biggest problem has been allowing the opposition to have an extra mid.

We got beaten by Swans for speed on the outside and some people get stuck on that game.

Cerra gets sucked into the ball and doesn't wait on the outside.

our stoppage defense is appalling for two reasons.

we can't catch them the other way, and we have mental breakdowns and don't man up or play defenisively bcos we're only worried about getting the ball and running the other way.

we need walsh or cerra in the middle, full stop. none of that matters if we don't return to our team defense and manic pressure on the ball from all lines.

not sure why you love big, strong, plodders like pittonet and kennedy ... but the modern game doesn't have much place for them, little buddy.

OK

I explained once, twice, three times ... I'll let you try and figure it out, if you want to, then you may see why.

I know you think you're right and i have no idea, hence you don't want to try and comprehend the points made and reasons for them. Not more I can do to help you with that.

You never seem to answer and address the questions thrown your way to allow us to gain some clarity on your position. You see I still don't get your last post..."need Walsh and Cerra in the middle...FULL STOP". Yeah. Where in the middle? What role? same as before? When before? When rules weren't changed or when Cerra was in form?

Look at your comment I highlighted, then follow your questioning in your next post. Its all absolutes young bull.

You didn't follow up to find proof of ruck as sub idea. So you didn't learn a thing from that,, but I gave you a hint, you are wrong AGAIN. It wasn't just a flippant idea of mine. It happened when you said it would NEVER happen.

Keep throwing barbs, and in doing so, there's no room it seems for any discussion.

Ive told you who and why I THINK.... For arguments sake, and intelligent discussion, you tell us who and why you think we can't beat at the coal face, (nam,e names and positions) because that's where it will be won or loss, like last time we played them. To give you one simple example of the point I'm making.....they beat us on the outside in the very last minute...where were we positioned. How many did they have stationed at the stoppage...have a look at your posts from that game.

You really don't think you're exaggerating do you?

Crusader pointed you were wrong AGAIN in a previous post. Your response was to attack the man, not your outlandish position. Come on mate. We are trying to help. I agreed with Cru. It was there in black n white in your post just before your rebuttle. You can't see because you refuse to see your fallacies and exaggerated comments; absolutes. They are not facts but you present your bias opinions as facts. Give examples. Discuss footy. Discuss players. Capiche. Not being nasry, but its a dead end street if you don't try

Every week there's a different 23 players we face. Every week we present a different 23. Things are NEVER the same. You can bank on that.

We've spent the last 2 weeks discussing Walsh and how the change of HTB rules affected his game AND how he is an easy target; his back has an X marked on it. I thought you agreed on the need to play him more on the outside, because he can't help see ball get ball and put himself in danger as a marked man who has had back concerns and will have for the rest of his career.

Tell me who is going to torch us in the middle? Why? What can we do to stop it? What can they do to stop us if we win the ball?

We are better than the Pies. I wish we faced them in last years GF even with our SLOW midfield. We've beaten them a few times in the last 3 years including their premiership year. Why is this so?

I agree with bondi's team selection. Bit harsh dropping Kemp after one game, hope he understands it's about balance not punishment. Walsh on the outside is a MUST, and Cerra more on the ball.

i think i just find it equally as unbearable with how right you always think you are, and then deliver a 55,000 words thesis explaining why you're right. bludgeoning me to death with words, doesn't make you right, old cock.

we've lost countless games for being too slow. kennedy hasn't played meaningful minutes in the centre since we were without walsh back in the first few rounds. there's a reason why him, cripps, hewett and pittonet cannot be in the middle. whenever they have, they get burned. it's first use and kick it long, or bust. they're not even running or spreading or linking handball chains from the square if they do win it, bcos each to a man will get caught.

i told you earlier. cerra has to play in the middle and he has to find form, it's that simple. he's the bridge between cripps and walsh. goes inside and also plays outside. if cripps isn't getting the ball first, cerra used to get it - before he was injured, he has to find that form again. hewett off the bench to spell cerra and cripps when they're on a break.

we miss tdk, bcos he papered over so many cracks, getting his hands to the ball first and just bullocking forward. his ruck art was coming along too.

walsh isn't being destroyed by the new HTB rules, per say ... we are not fast enough to keep momentum on the ball and keep tapping it and toe-poking it forward at all costs. the successful teams since the rule change, play the ball forward at all costs and surge into space.

the rule change as a whole, hasn't aided us, bcos our 1-wood of using big bodies and strength to stand up in the tackle and find the outlet has been taken from us, and in its place, the manic surge forward play has taken over. ie fast teams have benefitted the most.

it's criminal really, that the afl could make such a huge rule change mid season. it's criminal that voss has filled his list with big bodies (from acres to our engine room etc ) and we can't adapt.

imo this game on saturday is our season. we either prove our contested, high d-pressure, high turnover game can exist within the new rules. or i fear it's game over for 2024. we haven't looked good in any game since the htb rule change, and d-day is here.
