this will be a finals game, 100%.

looking at their run home, they absolutely have to win today to stay in touch with the 8 to have any hopes of finals. and they played really poorly last week.

and,

we should come out breathing fire after last week's piss poor pressure rating. i find it strange we've picked the tall lumbering team where we struggle in aspects of the game.

hopefully we grind it out and do it for cripps. he deserves the guys to really lift today and do whatever it takes to get over the line.


it's gonna be a cracking game imo. best game of the round.

Just looked at the extended ladder.
5th most points against.
Geelong the other top 8 team with higher. (Geelong have conceded 59 more with one extra game played)

Yeah, I noticed that too. 2nd and 3rd on ladder with some of the highest points against tallies. I don't think we need to obsess over it. There's seven clubs within 100 of our PA, one of them the Dogs, so a couple of strong wins and suddenly we're in the top half for PA and it's no longer a remarkable stat. More important is that our PF is only a few kicks behind Sydney and with daylight third, our percentage is solid and we've won 11 of 16 with easily the hardest fixture behind us and the easiest fixture ahead. Worry room is closed for renovations.

i think defensively ... on our 5 game win streak we were the best offensive team in the afl, and the 2nd best defensive profile. that's points againt, pressure, tackling etc ... so we are capable of it.

without harping on about it ... imo we're only capable of that level of team defense with a smaller, more mobile team. as we're already one of the slowest teams in the league, we can't be compounding that by selecting 3 key forwards and 2 rucks.

today will reveal a fair bit. can we be defensively sound when we're so tall. etc

losing, or limping to a victory against the team 10th on the ladder.

we need a statement win with this tall lineup imo. we put up a 65 pt win against the cats going small. we need to achieve the same today for me to even begin to believe we can have a gf winning profile with the tall/ slow team.

regardless of if we're tall this week or next or in a final. every single game we've played like that has been super tight.

we need a statement win, where we wipe a team off the park, and go on with it. otherwise, imo we're chasing shadows and kidding ourselves we're flag material when we go tall.

I’m not comfortable with this side at all. Hewett has to play, we’ve got too many 8-12 disposal players running around.

Also, we get an injury or one has a stinker and we’re beaten.

oh we do, with this tall lineup. we're yet to do it. yet somehow, we keep persisting with it.


just scraping by, limping to wins, boring the other team to death, won't serve us well come finals. we're top 2 or 3 aspirants with a gf being our goal going into the season. it's time we started playing like that's where we're at, and started standing on some throats.
