I'm not sure why it's so hard for some on here to understand how fair this trade is, in fact I think we have done well out of it.
If you add the points from pick 17
Then add picks 21+25 points it really ends up being pick 31 in overall value.
So effectively we traded Fisher for the equivalent of pick 31.
Now hypothetically if we just traded him for pick 31 that's about right, but the bonus Austin has managed to achieve is we now have 2 picks that we can utilise to either incorporate together to get up into the top 10 or we can trade 1 of them to gain a player and still have another up our sleeve. It offers Austin flexibility which we will need for next year with the Campo twins coming in.
Fair points.
Considering we paid pick #27 for him and he's not really a first 22 player for us.
I'd say we have come out alright, defiantly a lot better than the BS Austin served up last year with Setterfield.
Just look at the Suns Crows deal as a comparison if anyone is feeling ripped off.
Burgess and pick #14
For pick #23 and #26
And anyway, unfortunately in this situation we are dealing with a club that has been gifted picks and got a BS compo for Ben McKay.
So on the surface it tends to look a little light.
But Austin isn't a hard negotiator so we can't really expect much else.
Hopefully we can trade up with Geelong now.
The positive we can all agree on is at least we got this deal done and out of the way early.
