For the Dogs, Bont attended 22 times (96%) and Smith the same as Cripps with 20. (imagine having a classy speedster like Smith at your centre bounces!). And Kennedy did not go exclusively to Bont and keep him to 3 clearances as BV has misinformed us - in the last quarter at least he seemed more interested in Smith, had a couple on Macrae. And there was no interchange blunder that kept BV's champion out the game in the last quarter. He was rotated off at about the 16 minute mark for about 3-4 minutes and then off again at about the 7.5 minute mark for about 3 minutes.
For the record. I'm offering an opinion. No different to anyone else here. And I wouldn't want to misinform anyone about Kennedy having a job on Bont, would I? Maybe I should apologise.
But so probably should Michael Voss who said in his press conference "for most of the night, Matty had a great role on him, for a large part of the game, he was able to get that job done for us, but good players still find a way don't they? for certain periods of time, they still find a way. So they don't need a long period of time to do some damage but yeah, pleased with the way that Matty went about that tonight "
Or the AFL who wrote in their match report "It would have been fun to see Paddy Cripps and this year's hot favourite for the Brownlow, Marcus Bontempelli, go head-to-head, but the (somewhat spoilsport) coaches had other ideas. Matt Kennedy kept a close eye on the Dogs' skipper around the stoppages, while Tom Liberatore looked after Cripps."
I would have thought most posters with a basic understanding of the game would appreciate nobody plays on anyone for 100 minutes. There are rotations, tagged players going to others to create 2 on 1's etc etc. But it was obvious to anyone who has a shred of knowledge that Kennedy had the job on Bont. Perhaps I need to clarify more for those with no idea in future.
As for the interchange "blunder". I didn't call it that at all. I posted-
Quote:
Kennedy had the most centre clearances for us. Where was he sitting in the last quarter when the Dogs got on a run? The bench. Meanwhile Sam Docherty who had a grand total of zero centre clearances was in the centre bounces.
Meanwhile Adam Cerra who has been our best performed mid for weeks was half back for the second half. Docherty isn't a ball winner. He's an accumulator. He had 2 total clearances for the night. Kennedy had 8. Whilst keeping Bont to 3.
Them's the facts. Carlton hit the lead with 6.36 to go in the last quarter. The next 3 centre bounces consisted of a mix of Cripps 3, Docherty 2, Hewitt, 3, Walsh 1. In that time the Bulldogs kicked 3 goals whilst Kennedy was off and Cerra was sitting at half back. Game over.
I have a theory Billy, if you want to be a smart arse and do "drive by's" on other posters , be 100% sure. Otherwise you just end up looking like a dick head.
