I don’t care what anyone says, that’s too many listed players sitting in the stands. It has to impact on continuity and performance of both teams.
I’m not suggesting there aren’t other areas we need to look at (eg. coaching, kicking & list management are amongst them), but our injury issues continue year after year without seemingly any acknowledgment and action from the club.
You can cope with injury list like this for short periods of time but ours has been like this week in week out for several years.
I wonder how many could actually be available to play but they take the cautious approach.
I have been on about the club needing to hire a good shrink for a long time.
When ever the level of expectations rise the club collapses and the injury toll rises.
Watching Walsh play the last 2 weeks you are not telling me he wasn't ready weeks back.
The whole club has a level of expectations this goes from board level to coaching to players and medical staff and no one is prepared to be brave in case something goes wrong.
Through all the sacked coaches immediately after that it's like the weight of the world is lifted we play exciting unhindered football start winning getting players back and look good. Then the media, fans and management raise the level and we go from hoping to expecting to win and the moment that happens and we look like taking the next step we clam up play conservative and injury list get longer.
Don't know how you fix it but Mcrae seems to have done it with the pies but they haven't won anything yet. When finals happen we will see.
Last year was the perfect example. The defence was decimated however they started the season off well players like Marchbank and Martin returned then we went from hoping to expecting and choked the rest of year and finished with half the midfield sitting in the stands.
Calf tightness seriously it's a running game of course they get tight .
