Carroll for Fisher
Cincotta for Cowan (needs a rest)
???? for SOS

Is Pittonets slashed eye ok?
Looked pretty serious. If Pitto out, SOS is safe. I love 2 rucks but no to Mirkov please.

If Owies is back he will take back his spot Fisher (Honey was sub).

Carroll wasn't banging the door in the VFL imo. If anything sub perhaps.
I think the latest from the club was round 8 for Owies

Just a quick vent: So annoying that Brisbane comes out a week later and smashes the Kangas by 75pts.
Why can’t we smash lower ranked teams by 75pts?
Why do we seem to make things so hard?
Why do lowly teams find a way to be competitive against us?
Why do we seem to play to the level of our opponents (at best)?

I’m not panicking at this early stage but geez it would be good if we could win a few games easily.

PS. This is along similar line to the query as to why our forward line so often seems clogged and our oppositions’ forward lines seem so open.

Ok, I feel a bit better now but will be even better if we can turn this around on Sunday! See, I did bring it back to Carl v StK :-)

Quietly confident for this one.

I don't think they've got the spread or the ball users to hurt us as much as Adelaide did, or the forward line to put a score past us in a shoot out. Think we match up pretty similarly, but think our best is better.

Sunday afternoon at Marvel suits us. Good break and on a ground we play well.

Need some structural changes and some reward for reserves. If Pittonet fit, Jack is dropped, if not he plays. Can't play all three. Picked a quicker more flexible side

B: Cincotta Young McGovern
HB: Newman Weitering Saad
C: Acres Cripps Hollands
HF: Durdin McKay Cerra
F: Motlop Curnow Fisher
Foll: Pittonet Kennedy Walsh
Int: TDK Binns Carroll Cowan Dow

After the past 20 years, we’re neither feared or respected. Every team knows that when you play Carlton they’ll give you a chance to win. The bad teams come in sniffing a rare victory so play with every bit of energy and ability they have. From there, we either lose to them or win in unconvincing fashion (such as the GWS and Norf games). Those teams then enter the next clash with us full of confidence that they can win. Rinse, repeat. Until we learn to belt a few teams and strike some fear into the competition (especially the crap teams), every crap club will come in genuinely thinking a victory is a reasonable chance and throw everything at us.

Simple answer. We aren't ruthless. Until we destroy these teams as we should they'll always think they're in the game against us thus us having to work a lot harder than we should.

 to all the above.

Have to be good enough to win first then think about trying get the rewards for being ruthless.

Like abns and others said, we're middle of the road ... for now.

Saints after a 10 days break to clear the head should help dust ourselves from the insult just experienced should be enough to be ready for them.

Hewett E. Curnow Silvagni Honey for Cincotta Carroll Binns Dow

I really don't think Carroll and Binns are up to AFL right now. Carroll might play a role. I'm scarred from the game a couple weeks ago in the VFL, Binns vs bigger faster bodies. Wasn't funny and wasn't fair. Tigers had a VFL team play with hardly any AFL players of note, none really. Carroll, has played an outside role with Dow inside. NFO what he was playing on the weekend.

I guess you're saying Hewett and Curnow as inside mids lack the speed and flexibity

I don't like the sub to be a player's first game.

I'd like Dow in the mix. I think we need him to play a role with the mids. We have to try it and that would be at someone's expense.
We haven't got the rucks to stop a team with quick mids with a good ruckman. Dow can help there.
Crows perfect example of a dominant ruck to a brigade of quick mids. Ball tapped to space, far enough from the grips of Kennedy Cripps and Hewett, and off they're racing.

Happened all night. Crows were fresh all game. We didn't catch them...or couldn't catch them once they got their hands on it. They played "our way?"

I hope Pitto is OK. We need 2 rucks, MC tells us that week in week out. I agree. I'm not fussed if MC drop Jack, Ed. Honey Plowman, dunno about Hewett .

You’re right, we can’t play all three. But, you’re dropping the wrong one.

Pittonet & Jack is a better combination than Pittonet & Tom. Pittonet is by far our best ruck & you just have to accept that he rotates through the bench. With Jack, you at least get a little bit of something when he’s not taking his turn in the ruck.

I think if Pittonet and Gov are both fit, you'd drop Jack. But at least one of them won't be.

Plowman absolutely not under the roof, even though I think there are some good matchups for him in that Saints forward line. As much as I agree, his kicking skills are awful, I'd rather a one-week JSOS bandaid ahead of Plowman, and then reassess the team balance from there. Also don't rate the balance of the forward line while he's in there.

Him/resting ruck/Harry/Charlie and no Owies/Martin makes it far too easy to get that ball out.

Ross Lyon's plan to stifle the Pies worked for 3 quarters, only for the pies' polish to win over in the end.

He knows how to adapt his game style, having played free flowing footy until today.

I fully expect them to carve us apart purely because of his tactical nous and Voss' lack of it.

Oh and Membrey is back too so there's 5 goals.

I've only recently put 2 and 2 together with cincotta pharmacy. Sometimes you have the most obvious things in front of you.

Hopefully the bloke doesn't end us up in hot water like the essendong crew.

And see how they fought it out...almost pinched an unlikely draw, but that late flurry keeps their percentage intact and on top.

We just go to water and concede late goals ffs! My blood is boiling.

Oh well...Caminiti won't play so there's one less forward to worry about.
