Felt tonight was a dress rehearsal for the big stuff and we failed miserably.
Didn’t handle their heat and pressure. So fumbly and unsure with extremely poor skill execution to say the least.
Couldn’t stick a tackle to save ourselves. Tonight we were soft. So so soft. Not just our ‘bottom six’ either.
If tonight was an indication of who we can rely upon IF we make finals, we have a long, long way to go.
Very, very flat.
I am totally with you.
I think a lot of people both fans here and media experts have grossly overrated us.
There were fans who seemed very confident we would beat Geelong. I certainly wasn't.
And how's the nerd on Fox Footy saying we are the second best team in the comp !
We have improved but every single time we have an opportunity to go equal top we blow it.
We continually fail to take the next step.
Don't get me wrong, it is what it is.
We simply aren't that good yet.
It has been a yoyo past few months.
Opportunity to go up with the top group lost.
Then we have to beat a lower or middle ladder side to stay in contention with the top teams.
The worry I have is chances are this sequence of wlwlwlwl will be broken at some point and it'll either be by us finally beating a top side and going equal top (if only for a couple days) or by us losing to a lower or middle table side.
If anything the pressure is on us now this weekend.
We simply have to win otherwise we suddenly put ourselves at risk of missing finals.
Lose and teams like the Dogs etc have a glint in their eye as they see a team inside the 8 is vulnerable and has opened the door.
What's more likely?
We rise with the top teams.
Or we drop a game we ought to win and become vulnerable.
We should win this weekend, right?
But we have failed to be consistent for 2 months now, not being able to win 2 games on the trot over this period.
Shock losses happen every weekend.
Sorry everyone I am not trying to be negative for the sake of it, I just don't know if I trust this side and I think the pressure is actually building on us and I do worry we are a chance to blow one of these should-win games.
I hope I am wrong.
