I like Marchbank a lot, but at what point do we accept that he is the most injury prone player on our list? We're probably at the point in our development where we look to trade away early picks and decent players for needs. We've only traded out decent players for picks so far, and over the next couple of years might see some decent talent moved on. We have a ton of pretty young early draft picks, and need some mid career stars to go along with them. If Marchbank was a piece of the puzzle that got us Papley we should consider it. There's every chance he only plays 50 games in the next 4 years, can we carry him any longer?
I agree Marchbank is made of tissue paper. Has been right through juniors. He turns 24 in December. He can play, when fit, so tossing him out now is an interesting decision. Hopefully our fitness guru can get him right.
I think keep him, unless we get an offer to good to pass up.
I guess that basically says I am on the Fence because of the dreaded word Potential.
Regards CazzesmanI'm not aware of Marchbanks injuries pre AFL.
However, his injuries whilst at Carlton aren't because he's made of tissue paper. That neck injury which kept him out for nearly all last year was because he dares to put himself in harms way.
His injury was a result of his courage. That's what we want from our players....all of them, and when they get inured from showing that quality, we should praise them and hope his luck turns.
I've seen his potential, and now I wait patiently for his time in the sun.
An offer too good to be true is called that for a good reason.
