Hey Jarusa I have a question for you.

I clicked on Zeunert's profile and clicked edit. There was nothing their to edit but I just wanted to test if I saved it if it automatically changes the profile or whether it had to be apporved by the admin. Anyway my question is, is their any type of protection on the profiles and everything on the site to stop users for deleting/messing it up? Like say you type up a profile for Lance Whitnall and some other user deletes what you typed can the old data be retreived? Just thought I'd ask cos it would be a shame if anything like that did happen.

Good question Zippy.

This is something that is a bit confusing with the wiki concept.

Basically anyone can change a page.

With the Zeunert profile you were free to add anything you wish.

Everytime someone adds something a new 'version' of the page is saved, the older 'version' of the page is still saved as well, in fact if there are hundreds of versions of a page they are all saved.

So say you wrote up a great profile on Zeunert.

... and then someone came along and deleted all your text and wrote something stupid like 'Zeunert is a poopy head'.

What would happen is either:

a) Myself or any of the users with 'editor' priveledges notice this has been done and simply change the page back to the good Zippy version. (I get an automatic email for every change that has been made to the site so I can keep an eye on things)
b) You notice something strange has happened and alert me about it so that I can reverse the 'vandalism'.

Hopefully, while the site is being built we can just limit the users of the site to Carlton supporters and keep any vandalism to a minimum.

Does that make sense? Sometimes I can be a bit vague explaining this sort of stuff. :-D

Any more questions feel free to ask. :)

Not long ago I just finished adding pages for every game the Blues have played. Since the Blues have played well over 2000 games it took a while
(the Blueseum has over 3500 pages now).

But thankfully its all done now.

Each page has a simple template for adding content, I will write up a little tutorial about how to add content to these templates soon (it should be pretty intuitive though).

As an example of how the template looks check this out:
http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php? ... 14%2C+1987

So feel free to add your game reviews onto the site.

Every Carlton game can be accessed from this page: http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php?page=Seasons

Ta.

The work you've done is brain boggling! and so well done!

Congratulations!

Are you interested in anything to do with CFC? or specifics?

For instance; I was a friend of Syd Jackson when he played with us, and have one of his Business Cards. (He was an Insurance Agent)....just a bit of ephemera and trivia.

Warby, anything at all CFC related is great; memorabilia, stories, interesting facts, etc.

Just have to keep in mind privacy and copyright issues and the like, if the business card is very old then it's details may no longer have any relevance to current privacy issues.

If you have something that does not seem to fit anywhere on the site feel free to make suggestions, the whole thing is still quite fluid and it can be changed around quite easily.

Jars....wasn't sure where you wanted it, so here it is temporarily.

This card is circa 1972-74.

(I think it'll have to be resized just a tad!)

Had a look at this Jarusa, it looks great. What is the stats section supposed to show - it keeps stopping my computer.

If you are after 1980's Experts shouldn't you find people on here who arein their 40's or 50's and get them to help? It looks like you have covered the 1990's ok but you may need some old blokes. I was at a BBQ for new years day and a bunch of young & old Carlton fans were going through who had worn each number, and some of those old guys still seem to remember back to the 1960's.

Thanks mate, the stats section shows site stats such as number of pages, articles, etc.

All contributions are on a volunteer basis so I consciously try not to be too 'full-on' with recruiting people.

Occasionally I will contact individuals who have an interest in a particular player. For instance, keogh ( a member here at TC) wrote a fantastic profile on Trevor Keogh. Might have to ask dannyboy if he could write up a profile on one of his favourite players Ragsy Goold?

I'm continually amazed at how much some of the folks on this site can remember about particular players and games from decades ago. Hopefully some will contribute to the blueseum.

So far we have had about a dozen people contribute to the site, with some great regulars such as molsey, Juzz and PatsFitztrick.

Hopefully now the site has a structure set up and once the site gets more content and becomes more useful a bit of momentum will build up and more contributors will emerge.

Going through some of the records found on-line it looks like Nicholls was Captain-Coach in 1972, after Barassi was Coach in 1968 and 1970. Is this right? Why / when did Barassi leave? Why did we revert to a Captain / Coach joint scenario rather than separate roles?

BTW keogh that bio on keogh is fantastic. Great read. there's another 100 or so players from the 1960's and 1970's that we need done, too!

And Jarusa, you mentioned 'asking' Dannyboy to do a Goold piece. Do you think people need to be specifically asked, perhaps thinking that this is your baby and therefore they can't or shouldn't just jump on and add as many details as people can remember? If we wait for everyone to be asked, Blueseum may not be finished until the 3005 media rights???

Yeah, Big Nick masterminded the 1972 flag, if you cast your mind back.

I think Barassi got sacked because we finished 5th in 71 after winning the flag in 70. You'd guess that the committee knew all about Nick as a player, how 'smart' he was on the field etc, and as such, would have thought he'd make a good captain coach in his last few years.

All 2005 games have now been set up with the right scores, and some have small game reviews attached:

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php?page=2005

I have not done any review or commentary of:

Round 5 - away loss to Freo (didn't watch)
Rounds 8-13
Rounds 20 and 22 - didn't see them

Plus there is always more room for observations on who did well, who was dropped, who kicked great goals. If you have any particular memories of any games in 2005 please register and add to the Blueseum. Your Grandkids will thank you for it....
