I was disappointed with Judd last night pretty much dismissing any thought of Teague getting the job.
They stuffed up the last appointment so why should we trust them to get this one right?
Teague may well be the best candidate and it looks like he will not get a look in.
I still don't get everyones hang up on Teague being one of the best, if not the best candidates. So far he has won us 2/4 which is pretty good if you only use that as a measure, especially seeing as though they were against top 8 teams (at the time of play). But other than the obvious honeymoon period, nothing from him screams premiership coach yet.
IMO this is my assessment so far:
Pros
-Jack is thriving.
-We are a little more attacking than before.
-More senior bodies in the middle.
-Trying to bring the fun back into the group, especially with our losing culture.
Cons
-More attack seems to mean less defence.
-The kids are less exposed at the coal face which could harm the speed of their development.
-You don't win premierships with a having fun mantra, especially when dealing with competitive athletes in a professional sport. So where to next for Teague?
-As on the weekend, the skills are pretty much the same and players are still getting lost on the field.
Teague and co are still playing mostly the game plan we have implemented for the last 3 years and I think we need a strong coach with a new game plan as well as a few new coaches under him if we are serious about changing things up next year. Time for a bit of a clean out.
