You know what shits me? The 'process'. You know what shits me more? People who have to go through a 'process' of box-ticking rather than trusting intuition and instincts.
If those in charge have to go through a 'process' with Teague after watching him for 3 months then they have no right to fill the position they're in.
We went through the same process that delivered a coach with a win rate of 9.3%.
That's my rant

.
Hmmm.......so we went through the process once and it failed mainly due to "small" things like.......a full rebuild of the list, the removal of key senior players (especially in the middle) and a year riddled with injuries. Yet prior to this we solely operated on "intuition and instinct" and we got 20+ years of the most bleak period of our club, the worst AFL player list ever and instead of being the threat we once were, we became the joke of the AFL......Pffft.
You know what shits me..........complacent people who make knee jerk decisions then complain and whinge because things aren't going the way they "hoped" it would, then they look to blame someone else for the mess their poor decision making made. This isn't Auskick, Carlton is a multi-million dollar organisation and all organisations that are successful are process driven.
If Teague is successful in this "honeymoon" period of absolutely no pressure, does that make him the right person to take us to a premiership? Apart from putting the senior players back in the middle (obvious) instead of toughing it out with the kids to accelerate their learning and a few game day moves like Jack tagging with his carefree have fun football mantra. What has he done other than two wins that has your "intuition and instinct" saying he will take us all the way and not just winning a few games or becoming perennial finalists without the silver?
You need to accept you were wrong on Bolton. He couldn't coach. Time will tell with Teague, but so far he's shown he can be creative and flexible, which is the complete opposite to Bolts.
Most, if not all, Premiership coaches began life as an assistant. Teague was an assistant. The 'caretaker' parameters you use to prove he might not be right is totally useless. If Teague was an assistant at another club, we'd be mad not to consider him. So we'd be insane not to give him the job on the back of a good second half of the year.
It's a pretty good honeymoon that beats a top 8 side in Perth without Cripps and Charlie and Harry. But we'll see what the next 8 games hold in store.
Following a process for our next coach has nothing to do with Bolton, other than he is the one coach we have used a process to select. But seeing as though you've mentioned it.....If wrong you mean he is not at the club anymore, then yes, you are right. But as a coach to continue the rebuild.....we will never know and you need to look deeper than just saying he couldn't coach (I do agree that his game day tactics were a little flawed, looking from the outside). But what we do know, is he has set the foundations for this team with a constantly, short and ever changing hand of players. This is why the players after every win have addressed the work he has done leading up to the win (not giving full credit to Teague). Even Teague knows he has only tweaked with what has been drilled into the players for the last 3 and half seasons (just listen to his cliches). And this is my point, based on this how can you say he will be the next coach to take us to a premiership with out some sort of process to find out what his plans are and if he ticks the right boxes to get us there?
And are we at the stage of our rebuild where it is smart to take a risk on an assistant coach or are we better off to find a tried and proven coach to take us there?
I agree with you that the honeymoon has been great for us supporters, the club and the players and as you said, if Teague was at another club we'd be mad not to consider him. And by consider, there would be a process in selecting him over other assistants or coaches so why not have a process still, even if he is at the club already? There is no room for emotion in the AFL, it rarely pays off IMO.
Fingers crossed he wins another 3/4 games for us and he turns out to be our head coach next season.
