Murphy is our second most prolific mid. He was playing shit because our game was shit. He has put up with more than any other player ever since he has come into this team and deserves a bit of respect. Try putting up with the bumps and bruises he has been through for all of his playing career. fmd you guys no one was favoured by that shitty game plan look at what a week with freedom has done to the other players that were rubbished the whole year.
A lot of emotion in your post, (and good on you for caring), but it's the bit I've highlighted in red that I think is the important part when considering team selection.
I don't think it's disrespectful to his history at the club not to consider him an automatic selection.
Looks like injury might make the decision easier anyway.
Nicely put Kev.
No disrespect for Murphy from me, but lets be mindful of his output this year:
Murphy has attracted a lot of criticism from Carlton supporters this year.
His disposal efficiency when not under pressure has dropped to new lows. Missing targets a lot. Nothing to do with game plan.
He has also been criticised for playing a "bruise free" brand of footy this year. Again nothing to do with game plan.
Everyone put their body on the line last week.
I don't know how he will go with freshly mended fractured ribs against a team looking for revenge.
He hasn't played predominantly midfield this year.
IMO Murphy is experienced and was elite in 2011.
He's played a lot good games, but he hasn't reached those heights since.
Frankly for me he hasn't had a crack when its his turn and maybe its his shoulders but he still can't stick a tackle.
If no injuries from last week, I would like to see him rested just for this game and the buy to make sure he is confident with the ribs.
Doggies will target those ribs if he is selected.
Too much risk imo. We need o win this week before the bye.
IF he is an automatic selection then I would leave out Setterfield.
