Whilst I'm not a big Daisy fan and its clearly been of many poor recruiting decision, I wouldn't be adverse to giving him another year. You're getting caught up with his previous salary. I don't think the fact he was overpaid in the past really comes in to consideration when deciding whether he gets another contract. I think we could delist the 10 worst performing players on the list and Thomas would probably survive that cull.
You are right, I am very much caught up in his previous salary. It saddens me that Carlton is a laughing stock, and it is because of decisions such as that one to hire Thomas. It is like offering $90,000 for a car that no one else in the market was willing to pay more than $30,000.
I understand errors with recruiting, it happens all the time, but this was on a bizarre level. Even a half-brain dead and semi-comotosed, drunk monkey with vision impairment couldn't make a decision that bad.
It is one of the main reasons why I rarely watch Carlton matches anymore. Boekhorst got 26 possessions against Hawthorn- more than in any of Thomas's 18 games for the season...but what's the bet that Thomas gets one year contract, and Boekhorst is offloaded. That is reality at Carlton.
Sounds like you need to watch some games to get some perspective. Bit hard to take you seriously if you don't understand what's happening on the field from week to week and then complain about the clubs decisions.
