Win/Win
Its not always about raping the other party
SOS backed himself into a corner when he couldn't deliver, when other deals he was working on fell apart...
Desperation can cause ridiculously one sided deals (Geelong didn't rape us, we did it to ourselves) and that's what the Tuohy deal was...
How did Geelong come out better than us?

Really? The Cats will possibly drop 4 spots (or less) in the draft, and picked up one of the premier small defenders in the league, as well as offloading one of their players who was contracted, and clearly surplus to their requirements...
What we did afterwards has nothing to do with the Cats....
The Cats made out like bandits in the Tuohy trade!
1. Tuohy was out of contract and we offered him a shit contract to force him out the door. We didn't have much of a foot to stand on in the negotiations and you don't want to get a reputation for being difficult to deal with like Essendon* as fewer players and clubs will want to deal with you
2. We're not going to win every trade/nail every draft pick but so far since SOS has been in charge I think we have gotten something good in return in every trade.
3. It is very important to look at what we did after the trade. We traded the first pick and our third and fourth rounders from last year for Pickett, Marchbank, and GWS second rounder this year which we traded to the Hawks for the picks we used on Macreadie and Willo (might have been Poulson instead of Willo)
So essentially
Out: 2017 second rounder, Touhy, 2016 third rounder, 2016 fourth rounder
In: Marchbank, Pickett, Willo, Smedts, Macreadie
You can't be too unhappy with that!
