Phillips has been playing as a key forward.

Most ruckmen generally have no idea whatsoever how to play key forward unfortunately. Our's fall into that category.

Phillips is coming along nicely IMO.

We know he's coming along well as a ruckman but they are not key forwards. That's why our ruckmen are generally useless when they are not on the ball.

No, I meant as a forward. Nice marks.

FFS jim .

It's not about this week. Surely you see that?

Somner's had plenty of track time. It's up to him to be fit enough and good enough to excel.
I'd guess he's played since round 4 and missed one game with a foot scare, and back the next.

The footy is a bar of soap for Sumner at this stage...imo
He's been given plenty of games to show improvement and imo hasn't blown me away.
He's shown glimpses over 10 games. Sorry, not enough.

Hopefully next year. Maybe later rounds.
Next...lets see someone else. That's my opinion. Lets see what Bolts thinks.

I agree he probably needs to do a bit more, dropped off recently. I think he's getting tired though from an interrupted pre season and niggles.

I think we can see there's something there, there's talent. See him playing the Armfield type role long term hopefully with more upside.

A solid contributor but needs to do more. Wouldn't mind if they gave him a spell for a bit to freshen him up. He's the type that can get 10 possessions and still be effective due to the forward pressure he brings 'most' weeks...

There is talent there no doubt. Ive seen a flsh here and there.

To me he needs to get stronger in the core for longer.

Looks good overhead and hits te ball hard.

I expect an uninterrupted preseason a Judd like regime and he can be a top 10 for us in reality.

Hope he bodies up against the Swans.
Lets see how much he can endure.

Jaksch omission saddened me, but understand.

Absolutely stoked to have Boekhurst back. Like Murphy we have missed his speed. He was in form in red hot form in the preseason and early rounds then struck by injury.
Doesn't matter about size of SCG speed kills, and Boeky has got that in spades.
I wish we had Murphy's speed too....and Cuningham.
Dreamin.

It's their home ground. I have great seats and I'll be yelling for the Bluebaggers.

First time since we recruited him I can say without a quiver " I don't miss Everitt".

I'm also comfortable with the absence of Walker and Jamison in their latter form.

We are clearing the decks. I know they are contracted for 2017. Walker may come good.

Or, is it possible, it is a teaching moment from BB: "...OK, Kristian, you know what we were asking of you and how you need to be able to nail it in the VFL. We gave you a shot in the seniors and you see how tough it is to perform under the intense pressure at this level. Now, go back and show us how much you really, really, really want this. If you do, you have the tools. If you don't, then we are wasting each other's time and preventing someone who really wants a shot from getting one...."
?

I hope he turns out.

Something not right about his selection last week. Cloke like.

I'm with ya brother

I hope he turns out. Needs to make a call himself to start.

He could be a chance this week - surely he is an emergency in case JW doesn't get up

Despite his horrid performance last week, I'd have liked to see Jaksch play to the end of the year. Not looking good for him.

I'd like to see us experiment a bit with the forward line.

Maybe play Casboult as a high CHF. Stop trying the 'bomb it to Casboult in the huge pack in the goal square".

Casboult isn't quick so need to have some pacy players around him. Boekhorst and Armfield could provide that.

My forward line:

Silvagni, Weitering, C. Curnow

I think we would get a lot more goals per F50 entry with that combination. Really hope they go with something similar to this with Weitering going again as a key forward.

We could win this.

Oh if we're widening potential sponsorship to other clubs: 'Talking Carlton': Proudly Supporting Lyndsay Thomas and Brendon Goddard.

I was briefly thinking the same.

Unfortunately I didn't have time to type it out before a profuse session of vomiting ensued.

I applaud your bravery.

I really want to see Weitering play forward. I know its gunna rob our defense but just as a trial till the end of the year I would like to see what he can do .. even if we get pumped in defense.

Still not sure he will play in Sydney.

I would even give C. Curnow a run at CHB.

Nah.
We are saving the fwd position for McKay. If Weitering is stolen from the backline we weaken the entire team. This season is not about the four points. They are a bonus. This season and next are about getting a system in place and Weitering is part of the backline system (albeit versatile) and McKay is part of the forward system. I reckon we will see McKay in a couple of weeks if his form in the twos is half reasonable and consistent.
Curnow is going to be a monster for us. Forward line possibly but I hope he turns out a bit like Kouta. Or even Cripps.
