Once again, I'm a fan, but I'd drop him and give Gorringe another run. This would ultimately be Charlie Curnow's spot when he get's fit, if Gorringe can't hold it.
Casboult may be little other than an amazing mark but its one improvement on Gorringe, who has no redeeming features.
Casboult is running around on one leg and still offering far more than Gorringe did. At least Casboult has some physicality about him.
I suspect some posters are throwing the baby out with the bathwater after a couple of losses. Making 6 changes in one week is well over the top.
Unfortunately we missed some easy shots at goal against the Pies and we lost a bit of momentum. But if you look back over our season, our excellent accuracy has actually given a bit of false hope. In 4 of our wins, we've had equal or less scoring shots than the opposition. Our ability to convert was our saviour in a few games.
We're still a poor side looking to slowly improve. The system of play is excellent but our list is going to take a number of years to improve significantly. Turfing half a dozen players out each week will just create uncertainty. It will also break down our system of play. By all means bring in a player or 2 but wholesale changes will be counter productive.
The backline are a good example. They're showing the fruits of stability and understanding the roles, strengths and weaknesses of each other. They are performing as a team and that comes from familiarity and faith in each other.
We shouldn't be too reactive and throw it all out the window when we have a poor performance.
Great post.
We could have beaten Collingwood. That's what I take out of the game.
I'm inclined to think the number 1 footy priority is System First with Effort. Bolton's Game Plan.Team Defence.
I believe too many of our players miss the fitness requirements or capability to endure "Bolton's system" for 4 quarters.
Players like Curnow and Kerridge always have their class questioned, but they sustain a constant effort within this system.
Cripps endures, Kreuzer endures, Gibbs endures, Wright endures but they aren't putting in 4 quarter efforts of late and class goes missing too.
Players need roles and that's what Casboult is: a role player at KP. Gorringe is a mobile forward, hardly KP and is up against Jaksch, Jones and Everitt for a spot.
Gorringe has great athletic prowess but he hasn't impressed me, and I did have high expectations. He's got another year to make it.
I've got both Jaksch and Jones ahead of Gorringe. Anyway he's out with a hip complaint, and Philips is developing in the ones.
Next year we will have more players with class who will play for 4 quarters including the Cripps' and the Kerridges.
We need to spread the load.
We have plenty of 3 game blocks for players BB and SOS want to see, and we will. We have injuries too.
No need for wholesale change now, we need to play to the system, and replace Byrne and maybe introduce Jaksch.
