Well said BV. Gorringe went into the ruck late 1st quarter and the clearance debacle started. I believe at that stage (5 or 6 minutes to go) we were 3 goals up ....... By the end of the quarter, we were trailing.

I agree the guy needs to play forward or make way. I believe Phillips is a certainty to come back in.

I'd suggest Gorringe is only playing because the MC are unconvinced with Kreuzer's durability.
Neither offer very much at all, but Gorringe at least has time on his side to be developed by a decent ruck coach.

Agree on the first point, plus no other ruckman was available.

I don't think Gorringe likes contact and will avoid it no matter how much ruck coaching he's give.
In fact Gorringe doesn't like contact, so I don't know why he even plays this game tbh.

Maybe you over rate the alternatives.

I don't have Everitt as my CHF now that Betts doesn't play for us...get the picture

Who are our KPF's and which of them could play CHF in our team, not the top 8 teams because frankly none of ours would be a CHF in those teams.

Everitt isn't the problem. There's a spot for him in the team, but not as a bona fide KPF role.
A different game plan to the norm and maybe Everitt could play CHF, but not in the fashion we have been accuctomed to since we were wee lads.

Thinking who MAY work for us at CHF.

Rucks

Casboult 199cm ?
Kreuzer 200cm?
Philips? 202 cm?
Gorringe 202cm?
Wood 204cm?

KP's

Jaksch 198cm?
Jones 198cm?
Rowe 198cm?
McKay 202cm?

Alternatives

Walker?
White?
Curnow?
Silvagni?

Cripps?
Jamison?
Weitering?

Something different when we don't have a CHF

Betts? great lead up mark for his size....he's not ours anymore
Gibbs?
Thomas?
Tuohy?
Murphy?

The Orange is not a ruckmen but has shown promise around the ground.

We need speed badly and on weight of numbers Tutt should probably get his chance.

In: Phillips, Jaksch, Tutt/Buckley
Out: Gorringe, White, Everrit

White has been playing well up until last week, when imo he was played out of position by the MC.
He would have been the perfect match up for Membery.
There was no obvious matchup for Weitering last week and reckon the MC missed a great opportunity to try him forward.
White stays in, and I'd just bring in Phillips for Gorringe.
I don't think Whiley or Tutt are AFL standard and will not improve our team, so no to them.

Yeah, all the things midfielders do....he makes our midfield better but it's not because of taps/rucking.

He gets in the way of our real mids too much IMO.

At best Everitt is a 3rd forward, so IMHO it would be either Walker or Everitt. Walker every day of the week for me. Our CHF is Casboult and if we want alternatives, there are at least 2 other options i.e.. Gorringe, Jaksch. Hopefully McKay when he is ready.

Ps. The MC aren't playing Everitt as a KP, so I don't see why we have too discuss it.

Well if the bombers can be within 2 points at the final change....it is possible....We are off a bye, they look less energetic...Mind you we need them to keep spraying their shots on goal.

Appreciate the reality check. Wishful hope just got the better of me for a minute there. Won't happen again. I think you are right. But perhaps if you had left me in fantasy land for one more hour I could have had happy dreams...

Heath Shaw sets up their forward plays from the back line. Put Armfield on him as the defensive forward and don't let him get near the ball. They will kill us in uncontested possessions as they are quicker and skillful. Need to negate their play makers, the guys who set it up. We need a scrap and congestion around the football.

The point I was making is that there is no standout FF or CHF at Carlton amongst that list I put together.

Casboult has been good at marking and kicked some crucial goals, but he is by no means reliable. He's a good target to mark or bring the ball down.
I think Everitt along with all others seems out of place as a KPF, hence maybe the reason people put Everitt in as a CHF.
We have no bona fide quality KPF, so its luck of the draw who posters select.

There's times Walker and Everitt have played a KPF post...this year!

Everitt is our leading goal kicker, and played a few good games.
Walker played well against the Cats and will in his 200th game, and his output is nowhere near Everitt's this year.
I have watched Everitt bust a gut and go unrewarded, but I have also seen him jib the contest which shits me no end.
I haven't seen Walker do any heavy lifting other than that beautiful hip and shoulder against Lions.

Walker is your preference over Everitt but he's also the front runner from most posters on TC and BF to be dropped. Go figure.
I think both will continue to play a role this year, but unless Everitt really pulls his finger out he may end on the draft table to GC imo.
As for Walker, I'd be surprised if goes on playing seniuor footy next year.

I hope Jaksch is the answer as a KPF and that we do well with KPF trade imports at the end of the year. One will do if Jaksch makes it.

Bingo.

I hope the rest enables us to top up with energy and play harder and longer than Essendon* did. Having watched that game it gives me hope, except that its their home game and they will want to show off there.

We might close there runners down. We are capable of doing so.

Having said that I'm not backing Carlton against the GWS away.

Don't get two excited about it. He's the third forward.
