Not like TC for personal agendas to derail threads...

The last two weeks without Murphy, only Cripps and Curnow get a pass mark imo

Our ruck stocks are poor and people are demanding Phillips return just so they can bag him again

One thing that has stood out for me this past fortnight is the lack of leadership shown by Gibbs, a stark contrast from the Geelong game. As one of the more experienced mids on our list he needs to step up every game to help cover the loss of our skipper.

Good point about Gibbs. He has had two poor weeks.

No doubt Murphy's loss hurts us. Unfortunately he isn't the solution. Patience and a few years of success at the draft table is what we need.

In the meantime, I would love to see us try one or two of our running half backs a go. It seems to be the area where our depth is the strongest....Byrne, touhy, Simpson, docherty.....evEn throw in Buckley.

Lamb was a solid contributor today.

Gorringe, Everitt, Walker and Lamb were all shit. Coincidentally, they were all forwards.

Walker made the least effort to other aspects of play, and Lamb made the least attempts to pressure and made no intercepts, and yet we're talking about Everitt's inability to follow team rules before them.

Why don't we fix the midfield problem by dropping Walker and White for an injection of pace and skill?

If you think Lamb was shit, the bye can't come quick enough for you!!

And while I'm at it, how f#$%^ dumb were we today not positioning ourselves more on the outside of our opponents at centre bounces.

I just think we were 5% off our game and paid the price

I think it was Agro who made a comment earlier in the week about the 94 qualifying final against Geelong at Waverley. I was there that day. Today was the same attitude.
Winning today would've given us some short term gratification but nothing more. We should've beaten them.
Losing gives all an opportunity to evaluate and reflect with a view to improving practices/structures
etc.
And FFS...can we give Jacksh a go??

Well said 99, you can not compare Everitt's effort with Lamb. Lamb didn't dominate but his efforts and willingness to chase was so much more evident than Everitt's effort.

Our setup in the middle was terrible, too often the Saints mids were allowed to get on the attacking side roving to a dominant ruckman. Very little defensive structure around the clearances.

I really hope DVR, Buckley, Cunningham and Boekurst get a good run in the seniors. I think DVR and Boekhurst will be better suited to the better grounds where they can run and carry the ball.

Good lesson today, it really highlighted the fact we need more running midfielders before KPP's.

Correct. Everett isnt the answer but in our best 21. Better this season than walker or gorringe.

Yep. I would be asking why this wasn't corrected at anytime during the game as well. We could all see it, so why didn't our coaches or players correct this?

Just like Jones, Everitt will go and to not be seen again. Not in our best 25. Hopefully the replacements are ready soon!

Hampson seems to be going alright lately.
Gorringe needs time and patience.... and a good ruck coach.

Out of our 127 contested possessions, Everett and Gorringe had 1 contested possession between them. Everett 1 and Gorringe 0. In our last loss Everett had 1 contested possession.
You find out more about your players in losses than you do with wins.
Unfortunately we're not good enough to carry blokes who only want to add the cream. Lots of lessons out of todays game.

Everett is essentially taller version of Garlett

Yeah, while next year it will show us something different, it's always the same. We need more good players, as simple as that.

Gibbs was herding and jogging and hanging a fair distance outside of play and opponent.
He was waiting for the lucky free ball or receive.
If that was a coaching direction fair enough, but I didn't like what I saw him doing and not doing.

I have never been a Gibbs ctitic but his last 2 outings below par, and lacked leadership imo
