The real issue with the list is that no one really took into account the quality of what Phillips gorringe kerridge wright plowman sumner and lamb would bring - ie it was thought that maybe 2 out of the lot would be serviceable footballers and the rest would be reserve players - not stars but most decent footballers who are at an age where they will develop and all have played senior footy and look promising
Moreover last year the list severely underperformed obviously because of Mick and antiquated game plan and messaging - leadership group non existent ie simpson gibbs murphy all performed poorly for various reasons - this year much better
Middle tier players in the second half of their careers much better than last year Kreuz Rowe Curnow Tuohy playing better
Younger guns Docherty Cripps playing better
Weiters -a brilliant introduction and to a lesser extent Curnow promising and byrne being effectively a new recruit
We also this year don't have talented players - yarran and Henderson basically not trying to hard and that sort of effort rubbing off on the other players
Still need to build and continue to introduce youth but list much better performing and much better balanced than last year
Only player really not playing as well as last year is Jamo who because of injuries is almost clapped out (PS still think he has been a great warrior for the club - not a criticism)
All good points. So the list has taken a quantum leap forward under sos. Sos has been the sole recruiting guy this year as paul brodie hass been "indisposed". With these results, what does it say about our existing recruitment structure? Undermanned and uderperforming? Or working adequately? Or working well?
It seems one of the biggest criticisms of the club/board this year is their failure to appoint rogers replacement. Valid point or nit picking to suit their agenda?
