Understand white is versatile and as I say tries his guts out - no want of effort but please he is not a tall defender and is not a midfielder either
I think the reason players like White, Jones and Walker are favoured is because they buy into the team defence idea.
They may not be best available individually but team defence will win matches, not relying on Rowe to win one out all the time in defence.
Versatility is the Hawthorn mantra, as are playing team rules and playing the ball and man hard.
White is versatile and hard at it. He can play defence, forward or midfield, though the last is probably not his best. He will probably play forward at some stage and Rowe will spend at least some time down back. A lot depends on whether Gorringe can run out a quarter at a time.
In my opinion, Everitt is the key to this game. If he can run riot outside fifty and then carry the footy insideor go in and take some marks, it will confuse the NM defensive structure.
Walker or White will play the third tall at either end and both can play both ends.
Remember, boys and girls, wins are bonuses here. The coach is in teaching mode and wants the structural things right. For years we have had a game plan that was rigid. This bloke is happy to throw the team around on the park more than many we have had over the past ten years. You need versatility to get away with that. If plan A isn't working, we go to Plan B.
We supporters are the ones looking for wins as the yardstick. What matters to Bolts is how they carry out his plans.
A win would be nice but not critical to the future.
