Some are saying Jones for Graham, with Graham as the travelling emergency. If White were to come in, you'd think it would be at the expense of Kreuzer.
Kreuzer imo is a liability at Subi.
For those who consider him a mobile ruckman, I would agree when he was young and fit, but not these days. He cant jump! He cant pick up a ball off the ground. He's injured imo.
I agree that he has never had the greatest leap, but if we're going to play the percentages, that's only going to hurt him at the centre bounce contests.
Right now, we're +17 per game for hitouts against our opponents, but -7 for clearances. The only other team I can see with such a disparity is the Dogs, who are -8.5 and +9 respectively.
Worse still, this is the top 5 for average hitout difference:
1. West Coast - +28.5
2. Carlton - +17.2
3. Melbourne - +12
4. North Melbourne - +2.8
To be fair though, we have played 3 teams that are in the bottom 5 for this stat, but in every match so far, Kreuzer has had the most hitouts of any ruck on the ground.
I'd question the stoppage structure before I'd question Kreuzer, and I'd suggest that Phillips' deft tapouts to space but not to our advantage would suggest the same thing. Removing one ruck is fine, and hopefully Kreuzer bounces back because I believe him to be the better short, medium and long-term choice, but that problem needs to be addressed, and the smartest way would be by adding a new dimension to our stoppage play.
IMO, that should be speed in traffic, which is why I'm confused as to why Cuningham and Buckley haven't been brought into the stoppage mix. A smarter blocking setup would also help a great deal because the better opposition teams will try to create a mismatch in this area at stoppages to release someone to the outside of the bubble easily.
BV might laugh at my notions on the matter, but Sydney kick goal after goal by manipulating stoppage setups.
