A lot of unanswered questions after a second half like we had.
Did the dogs switch off after mauling us in the first half? Are they missing Murphy more than we realised? Has Bolton's game plan clicked with the players or was it a false dawn?
We'll find out in the next three weeks with some winnable games.
I thought our defensive set up and pressure was excellent in the second half. Our offensive running was good. Mis-kicks, long bombs and dropped marks still hold us back a lot.
Could see a lot of players trying to spread off or present to the 45 degree angles for the short kicks like the Hawks and Eagles do so well but it often was too many of them going to the same spot or the wrong players leading up the ground, it needs to be the players spreading from the area of the ball carrier. All part of learning a new and modern system.
Really liked C Curnow, Plowman and Sumner. Promising signs there and glad to see Dale Thomas getting back into form. Still not a fan of the two rucks. Bring Jones or Jaksch in or try Rowe up there and let Casboult do the second ruckng.
Back from holidays. Just watched the game (twice).
The injuries clearly slowed down the Doggies.
The umpires obviously were told at half time, the Blues didn't receive a free for 53 times and gave the game to the Doggies.ie the umpires let the game flow...taking away any help Doggies received in first half.
I thought we applied pressure for almost 4 quarters. Its just the disposal, by everyone, is below par.
I read the Tc match day and post mortem....geez some posters are full of shit.
Sure his kicking needs improvement but he got crucified by the umpires and really put in...some hard tackles, bumps, smashes and handballs.
Kreuzers miss at goal wasn't OOF!!! Sadly he's lumbering and sloppy at times. Needs to find a bit of mongrel coz he's being shat on by umps. He has to go harder for the ball, and stop trying to pick the ball off the floor two hands coz he cant. One handed pick ups off the floor are easier...ditto Phillips.
Charlie Curnow was hot!
Thomas tried all day...but his disposal is average.
Docherty was good too.
Gibbs is a passenger. Sad to agree with others on that.
Rowe tries really hard, and I don't think he dropped his head. He's just unco at times. Clumsy most.
I thought Buckley was good but could have chased harder to close down space; that's his job. Plus that dropped mark in the last...no excuse.
I don't think Cripps was smashed. He got the nut a fair bit. 4 rounds of footy and an average ay with the bounce of the ball, and NO help from umps make his day average.
Kerridge was OK...but plays a negative brand of footy at times...should be pinned holding the ball more than he does.
So glad Jammo didn't play. Watched the GCS game again last night and thought he was hopeless. Again, in that game, I thought we tried almost 4 quarters and a bit of lucl and a lack of polish saw us off the pace in the end.
I think its coming together.
Would like to see the players fitter.
Players should take pride and more care with their disposal. My kids would get hammered by me if they handballed and kicked like our players do...all of them. Got to hit targets. No excuse.
Doggies didn't kill us in the middle as some suggested. We are expecting Cripps to win and feed ball out on his own. Need more class in there. Gibbs should be in there leading the team. Murphy isn't 100% right and hasn't been all year, hence him playing off the wing.
I'm not happy to lose the game, but happy to lose Malthouse Buttifant Yarran and Hendo and watch the p[layers play like they care with a good defensive plan. We just lack a bit of class. We will get there!
