Synbad's right, it's the messiah complex all over again, Bolton won't save the club, neither will SOS, neither will Triggs. They may be the right people for their jobs but they are surrounded by a dysfunctional club.
It's not doomsday talk, we have been crap for 15 years, it's now embedded rusted on failure. The core of the club from the board down needs to change, and even then it will take years to become successful because you don't just need a strong club, you need a bit of luck too.
Yes Bolton will make some small change, a marginal improvement, but it will only get so far, he's not the messiah.
I bet Bolton does succeed because this is a rebuild! a real one.
He will get us to the Top 4. That's our target. It should take more than 66 games to get the list up and competitive though.
We should not have lost Waite Betts Yarran, Garlett and Henderson. They would have been helpful in this rebuild. Forwards who kick goals, but they are gone now, so it gets tougher to become a top 4 team.
WE will add 3 good ones each year to the likes of Weitering Byrne Cripps Docherty Boekhurst Curnow Plowman Jaksch and McKay over the next 3 years (9 good players) which will give us a core group of 18 players to compete for top 4 in about 5 years. From there we will need to attract a couple of star FA's and a couple of smart trades to top up the core group...and who knows maybe Cuningham Sumner Wright Glass SOJ Buckley and Graham may all come good: they're still young.
I just cant see Simpson Walker Jamison Rowe Casboult and Everitt with us in 3 years, and I think our No1's Kreuzer Gibbs and Murphy let alone Thomas will not improve, but they may be handy and I don't think Phillips and Gorringe are going to make it.
Its a hard road back, but Bolton seems clear and committed to his plan for success, so is SOS despite the board's failures.
