I think I'd feel less pissed off if we'd been thumped by 10 goals. So near and yet so far. Murphy and Cripps lack of condition told in the end, hope they both pull up okay. I have a nagging feeling this may be the story of our year. Honourable losses while the season is young, followed by some thumpings as the long, hard season tells on the kids.
Caboult. Gee, what can you say? Each time he was lining up I was praying someone would run past for the handball. He's a mark and kick player who can't kick a goal to save himself. Too slow to apply pressure when the ball hits the ground. Really hard to justify his place in the side.
Considering the players Richmond had out I don't think we should get too carried away with this effort. We lost to a good ordinary side, no more than that.
Gee, for a young side coming though they didn't do too bad against a potential top 4 side. Will be top 6. They get to that point each year so let's not go on about a good ordinary side.
Casboult kicks straight and his game is very good. Kicking was the difference between a damn good game and an ordinary one. Still, to have a shot at goal you have to get it, which he does. Many others won't get the ball in the first place to have a shot. But gee those misses hurt bad. Needs to get last year's kicking boots back badly.
Plenty who will come through as the season goes. Jaksch did well in the VFL and might be ready to help Casboult forward. We need that. I'm very sure Plowman will be pretty useful, as will Byrne, who should've been in, and Charlie Curnow will probably come in as the season goes and do alright. We really don't know our best side yet.
