Most media outlets are suggesting Maric is very doubtful Deledio won't play either will Grigg and Edwards is still sore
I don't we can kick the goals either to win but that night many years ago to the G when Murray Vance played against Essendon** possibly his first game and we had no chance of winning with a very young team but did proves sometimes miracles happen
Wouldn't it be great if that happened
Keep the faith
I like the optimism Frank, but I think we should focus less on who might not be playing for Richmond and more on who WE send out there on Thursday night. Most of us will agree that - on paper - it is the worst Carlton forward line in living memory. Even without Lids et al, it's hard to see us kicking a winning score against a mature squad who has a settled game style.
In the 2001 game vs Essendon*, even though we had a few stars out we still had Ratten, Campo, Lappin, Hickmott etc all in their prime and a team who had played under the Parkin/Brittain game style for several years.
I'm predicting Thursday night's game will be tight in patches, in fact there will be periods where we control the play, but at some point(s) in the game the Tigers will have a scoring burst(s) which we can't match. Probably in 'red time' of at least one quarter.
I desperately hope I'm wrong, but I'm bracing myself for a 6-7 goal loss. It could get more ugly if Reiwoldt, Vickery & Martin are on song.
Unfortunately, I think we're more likely to get a reality check than a fairy tale.
I would never be more happy to be proven wrong
