You can always point out that the saints now require as much AFL funding as Gold Coast. (16 million)

Ok so we had one less platinum sponsor in 2015, we're back to 5 in 2016.

Basically from 2014 to 2015:

- Ikon and Visy swapped sponsorship packages
- MC Labour dropped out
- SportingBet was replaced by William Hill
- Picked up another gold sponsor (ZTE, now a platinum sponsor)

Looks like our sponsorship numbers should go up compared to 2015.

Worth noting that the amount received from Jeannie Pratt through sponsorship dropped from $1.04 million to $598,055

Im just pointing out the drop of what has ben a million dollar plus sponsorship for the last few years also contributes to the bottom line.

It just reflects that Visy went down a sponsorship tier by not renewing the naming rights to the ground. As Wookie is suggesting, sponsorship should improve by at least $500k.

2016 should conservatively be a break even year for the club's coffers.

So won't make a loss next year right? OK
Is the final figure in?
Mark told somebody I know it's over 2.5 million
So I'm interested in final figure

It will depend on how many jumpers we can sell next year.
The number 5 has been retired so hopefully everyone with number 5 will go out and buy another jumper with another number.
Also looking forward to the 3 phone calls I will get next year asking me to buy a $100 raffle ticket.

The report was posted; it's $2.7m after amortisation and grants.

So give Liam Jones no 5, so they are all forced to buy a new jumper

But the club last Saturday went with the better figure of 900k before amortisation and grants.

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/t ... b2249beb74

Then the Herald Sun decided it was better to report the 2.7million dollar loss a few days later;

http://www.heraldsun.com.au/subscribe/n ... =anonymous

So I copped shit on Saturday and copped more shit a few days later.
We managed to get our loss reported twice in the same paper on two different days with two different numbers.

Sorry that should be amortisation, depreciation and grants. The key one was the depreciation estimates, which were about $1.7m.

It's not like we are going to sell up. Depreciation is all about tax reduction I'm guessing. I wonder what are actual debt is at these days...you know what we actually owe..?

Depreciation/Amortisation is not a monetary expense, it's a figure that shows the decrease of value of an asset. It's shown as an expense to reduce tax on the profit of the business. The actual monetary loss is not $2.7 mill, you then add back the depreciation/amortisation and any one off expense that will not continue the next year. This will give you a fairer indicator of the bottom line.

The actual current debt should be on the current balance sheet.

Monetary or not, Depreciation and Amortisation are expenses.

The loss is $2.7m

There is just SO MUUUUCCHHHHH good news being reported these days !!!

First Melbourne makes a profit ***
Then North Melbourne makes a profit **
and the good news just keeps on rolling in.

Now Port Adelaide makes a profit!!! where is that champagne?

Oh did I mention that Port's profit also includes additional funding from the AFL...some of it paid for from Carlton's loss making coffers.

"Those hand-outs — had reached $7 million a season when the Koch era began at the end of 2012." (I wonder if Carlton will ever receive a $7 million gift per year from the AFL....or compensation for playing in Tasmania as part of Hawthorn's $25 million gift in Tasy?)

And in further good news Hawthorn is going to spend $50 million on the new training base.
I am guessing the AFL will once again chip in. This time they will once again get the ground for $1 rent again, with the AFL footing the bill for the rest of the rent?

Yes, all animals ARE equal...just some are more equal than others.

Brisbane, I am guessing, is the next animal that is slightly more equal than the Carlton one.

*** cough, cough...with massive AFL funding. This helps them climb up the ladder at Carlton's expense
** ditto

Depreciation also gives an idea on upcoming expenses and the current value of an asset.

Good choice!
Hawthorn are going to win a lot more flags in the next 10-15 years. I wish I could bring myself to supporting that team.
I won't say the Tasmanian gift from the AFL/loophole helps in their success as apparently I am like a broken record on that.
And what makes it even funnier is that Carlton is now Hawthorn's lackey in Tasy, playing one of their exhibition matches down there next year whilst Hawthorn reaps the rewards.

Still, I recall the mighty hawks teams of the 80's, where althoughnthe crowd numbers where okay, you just knew that when the gravy train ran out of juice, their fickle supporters would drop right off. I waited years for it to happen and was almost rewarded for my wait with the almost Melb Dorks (except for that dasterdly D Scott).

I'll bide my time again as history has a habit of repeating. Who knows, these Hawks could just one day become the apple isles permanent team.

We frittered away and didn't build on our sustained period of success in the 80s.

So I wouldn't be throwing too many stones in our glass house.

I would think it is highly unlikely Hawthorn will ever go down the gurgler now. 5/6 decades of continued success. It is unprecedented....and guarantees a constant stream of supporters who have made the difficult decision of supporting a team that is always winning.

What I would like to see though:
1) The AFL management acknowledge they made a mistake with their sole gift of Tasmania to Hawthorn
2) As a result other Victorian clubs that didn't get the 30 million bonanza that Hawthorn got as a result of this AFL mistake then gets compensated with a financial dividend from the AFL of a similar amount.
3) Hawthorn pay far more for "equalisation" (if they have to have an equalisation policy they might as well get the REAL rich clubs to pay for it...and there are only two real rich Victorian clubs - Collingwood and Hawthorn.)

p.s sorry in advance to all those stating I am a broken record on this issue. Please don't read this post.
