It just reflects that Visy went down a sponsorship tier by not renewing the naming rights to the ground. As Wookie is suggesting, sponsorship should improve by at least $500k.

2016 should conservatively be a break even year for the club's coffers.

We managed to get our loss reported twice in the same paper on two different days with two different numbers.

Sorry that should be amortisation, depreciation and grants. The key one was the depreciation estimates, which were about $1.7m.

It's not like we are going to sell up. Depreciation is all about tax reduction I'm guessing. I wonder what are actual debt is at these days...you know what we actually owe..?

Depreciation/Amortisation is not a monetary expense, it's a figure that shows the decrease of value of an asset. It's shown as an expense to reduce tax on the profit of the business. The actual monetary loss is not $2.7 mill, you then add back the depreciation/amortisation and any one off expense that will not continue the next year. This will give you a fairer indicator of the bottom line.

The actual current debt should be on the current balance sheet.

Monetary or not, Depreciation and Amortisation are expenses.

Still, I recall the mighty hawks teams of the 80's, where althoughnthe crowd numbers where okay, you just knew that when the gravy train ran out of juice, their fickle supporters would drop right off. I waited years for it to happen and was almost rewarded for my wait with the almost Melb Dorks (except for that dasterdly D Scott).

I'll bide my time again as history has a habit of repeating. Who knows, these Hawks could just one day become the apple isles permanent team.

We frittered away and didn't build on our sustained period of success in the 80s.

I would think it is highly unlikely Hawthorn will ever go down the gurgler now. 5/6 decades of continued success. It is unprecedented....and guarantees a constant stream of supporters who have made the difficult decision of supporting a team that is always winning.

What I would like to see though:
1) The AFL management acknowledge they made a mistake with their sole gift of Tasmania to Hawthorn
2) As a result other Victorian clubs that didn't get the 30 million bonanza that Hawthorn got as a result of this AFL mistake then gets compensated with a financial dividend from the AFL of a similar amount.
3) Hawthorn pay far more for "equalisation" (if they have to have an equalisation policy they might as well get the REAL rich clubs to pay for it...and there are only two real rich Victorian clubs - Collingwood and Hawthorn.)
