I hope you all give the 2 million dollar loss coming a stamp of approval as well.
No, but there are reasons for it this year. Sacking Malthouse, Hiring Malthouse, Shit side and list, Club on the nose, Poor Membership and Sponsorship.
Whilst it isn't good I genuinely believe we keep down this path with Bolton bringing in a more positive style and game plan and SOS bringing hope with a bunch of well chosen kids, this will turn around quickly.
..the club has been a shambles off field all year, all under their watch.... ..I envy your optimism, but I reckon it's part blind hope, part desperation for things to improve.... ..I reckon we've got a few years of crap still to come before we actually bottom out.. ..some might not believe it, but we can fall further yet..
No doubt we can but at least we are now not going to sign the Thomas's & Jones of the world. If we don't have hope we have nothing. What I see is a club finally reconising their position and deciding on a proper path to get back to the top instead of a quick fix. The next few years will be hard but I'm happy to take a couple fo years around the bottom of the ladder if the side is full of kids building for the future ala St Kilda & WB. What I don't want is to be sitting in the bottom 8 with a list that is older and no upside. Just a waste. It's the way the system is designed and you need to work within it.
The key now is to get the trades and draft right. It will be SOS's & Bolton's first in charge so I don't see any point making a judgement until that period is past.
..why won't we continue to sign up players on big money long year type contracts?, it's what sos did at gws... ....it would be the Only reason Carlisle would want to come to us, for example..
..I agree that we need to use the system, but trying o do it all in one or two drafts is fraught with danger.. ..saints I don't buy into the hype they are ready to climb back up the ladder,
dogs got lucky with f/s.. ..both clubs have better leaders to develop the youth they get in..What? Stringer, Bont, Daniel, Macrae, Dickson, Webb, Dalhaus, JJ etc....
Wallis has been great, Libba injured, and Hunter barely played until 6 weeks ago. Hardly lucky.
As for leaders how do you know? From last year they got rid of senior players 'leaders' in Griffen, Gia, Cooney and Higgins and now just have Picken, Boyd, Morris and Murphy as they're most senior players....
Picken and Murphy have stepped up with the responsibility. We've never known what leaders we have, due to never before implementing an environment which allows for such a character to prevail.
