I have no knowledge or understanding of Brendan Boltons coaching capabilities, but he strikes me as being too nice and smiley.

On pure aesthetics I'd prefer someone like Dew - looks like he would happily hit up a six pack and knock out someone for looking at him slightly askance, all with a durry hanging out the gob. That would obviously translate into Us Recruiting well, developing kids and climbing the ladder by sticking resolutely to a hard core plan- a la Dunstall and Clarkson.

Or maybe I'm reading too much into it?

Our new coach should be announced if due process had been completed, why drag it out so long how difficult can it be ? The've had a few months now.
Surely we're focusing on draft , list management and possible trades .
Coach, support team and other internal personal structural changes need to be in place asap
Late August is pushing it.
Ciao

Correct me if I wrong, but is Stuart Dew not a South Australian? Is Adelaide not looking for a coach?

If he has any inclination to go back home, Adelaide would probably be his club of choice.

Shit, should we be concerned that Bryce Gibbs could go home AT ANY MINUTE to take the job there?

Or is he behind Barrie Robran and Christopher Pyne in this scenario?

Seriously, who other than Barker would want the job?

U serious lol

We going thru a big independent review and you think anyone here has a clue who the next coach is. You wouldn't be getting ange on the review if this wasnt going to be done properly. We would be a complete basket case.

The board does have the option of cancelling the review if they seen enough of barker to give him the gig.

What has dew done? He coaches with longmire so he must be good. Mark neeld was coaching with malthouse so he must be a good coach.

What has tudor done? Carracella?

We are 50% better under barker despite friday night. Getting the players playing for you is the biggest challenge a coach has. Barker has that. Give him the gig and get the right assistants around him. Why take a risk on an unknown with a rebuild for next 3-5 yrs ahead.

I'm just piecing together what minds greater than mine have told us.

So, I've heard around the traps that Barker is coaching to instruction. ;)

That means playing kids and, importantly, releasing them from the fear of failure. This is good for all the reasons BV has outlined.

And, for the first time in the modern era, the club appears to be taking a big picture view to list building and what is required to be a 21st century success. In many respects for everything great about the Barassi era, we might be taking our first steps from emerging from his shadow. As great as it is.

The bit about the board knowing what they're doing is good because even if they don't know what they're doing they know enough to hand the important decisions to people who do know what they're doing.

If mistakes are made by the board and/or executive now at least they're being made with the right intention and not because "We're Carlton, @#$%&! the rest."

hmmm.
ok.
but...
let's suppose it is SOS giving the instruction.
does this continue with a new coach?
who is really the coach then?
is this a ood precedent, or just goes with the 'interim' coach tag.
if it is just for now, how can johnny be judged fairly/
We only know that he is a good puppet coach then don't we?
Are the kids feeling free from fear now?
Or,
have they been shut back in a box after few weeks of freedom?
Are they in fear of not meeting SoS's KPI agenda?

Just mulling it over.
If I know the end goal will be daring, attacking footy again,
I'm in,
otherwise,
f#%$ 'em.

I've lost my trust and faith in the club, which is why
i don't trust them,
or have faith in a good outcome.

BG we are trying to salvage something from the year and that is week by week small teachings for the team (and draft picks)

losses/wins are irrelevant now, its about education

next year the coach will coach , whoever it is.

R1 2016 is a clean slate and of course we will be attacking more and wanting to win.

Due process has barely started other than a few preliminary talks. We'll know in September, which is normal for most clubs.

The only way Dew won't get the Adelaide job, IMO, is if Campo really does a super job.

It would be funny if they do this review and select Ratten as the next coach.
I can image this site going into meltdown

Macca was asked whether Ratts might be in consideration at the press conference after the game. He said he had asked Ratts and Ratts said he wasn't interested in applying.

 Lets book mark this page. If he doesn't coach at Carlton it will be because he accepted a job else where.

If McKay seriously did walk up to Ratts and ask him if he wanted the gig, then that makes him even more of a freeloading slimy douchenozzle than I originally feared. How dare he, after his hand in unceremoniously dumping Ratten (from behind Sticks' shadow, of course) after one injury-plagued year.

I want McKay out of our club. How the @#$%&! is he still there.... and how the @#$%&! is he actually a key stakeholder at the helm of the review underway? :banghead: :hitcomputer:

There aren't enough words that express how much I agree with the above statement.
