That quote is attributed to SOS in the context of the approach to our rebuild.
Does it concern anyone else that we seem to be going to a coach with a set of instructions on how to rebuild? As much as anyone else, shouldn't the new coach own the methodology employed for the rebuild?
Obviously the coach has to be on the same page as the footy department and the board, but I just hope the club isn't locking itself into a particular approach without accepting input and new ideas from prospective candidates.
We need outside influences. Clearly our methods over the last 20 years haven't been terribly effective.

I think its a great approach CB.
This is a post I put up a couple of months ago.

Put the structure in place first and then engage the correct personnel to fill the roles. Interview a strong list of candidates, not a select few.
Who would have known Luke Beveridge would have jumped out of the woodwork?
We need to get past the messiah complex and back a strong football department in to bring results. A department that defines meaningful roles and spreads the responsibility and knowledge. Not a department that puts all of it's faith in one person.
We have to learn from past mistakes. Bringing in Pagan and Malthouse and letting them dictate the total structure and approach was a disaster.
Mick was never going to implement a strong leadership program because he doesn't want strong personalities.
The club has to set the agenda for what makes a successful organisation (with external input) and they have to implement the programmes and structures to give ourselves the best opportunity.
No egos, no protecting territory. Everyone working in the same direction. A culture of wanting the develop the best people and utilise them instead of fearing that improvement.
Once we have the structure and direction in place, you populate those roles with the best people. Its a structure Ive been banging on about for ages and it's great to see the club finally taking the initiative.
