You are a pisser. Perhaps this proves my point.

No doubt I'll see you at the next blues function my friend, hopefully you have the cojones to step up, do something rather than just talk tough, weasel words on here.

See you around.

So you think that since our first wooden spoon dotted with two more.. And fourteen years later sitting on pole position.. With a legendary coach on the brink of getting sacked is media hysteria?
Crowds down
No money
Players unhappy
Players on the block
Coaches insecure
Club pointing fingers at each other
A legendary club on its knees

Is just media hysteria?
I think sure it fills newspaper space but my packaging guy came by today to find out my thoughts.. He's hawthorn..
He asked me a bunch of questions that were normal for the un educated on things Carlton.

Questions like..
" what's going on there? "

Everybody has a morbid fascination when a giant is felled.
Remember how invincible iron mike Tyson was before he was knocked out by buster Douglas? Well we could hardly believe it... After that iron mike was finished... The only punches he could land were on robin givens... Then he went to jail and got his face tattooed.. Bankrupt.. Washed up
That's us

Anybody can become angry - that is easy, but to be angry with the right person and to the right degree and at the right time and for the right purpose, and in the right way - that is not within everybody's power and is not easy

way too much hysteria on this thread.

For what he was brought in to do, malthouse failed and failed badly. If anything he is lucky to be given through to round 11 for a 'decision'.

As for comments about his wife/family - they are irrelevant. There have been very very few (if any) posts or news articles etc that have mentioned his family in a negative light. It's an issue malthouse raises on occasion as a herring, nothing more. AFL coaches are in high profile gigs and are extremely well renumerated as a result (too well) - pressure is part of the job. If it the family can't handle the pressure of a 500k-1mill/annum job, walk away.

Board was in a tough spot (self imposed). They could either
- sack mick immediately (and deal with the fall out of 'disrespecting a legend')
- wait till the end of the year (and lose $$$/members etc)
- or put a definite time frame on things as they have now (still going to cop flack but nowhere near as much as the other 2 options).

We all know the board is inadequate - however for all the bleating on here (particularly those that have connections/know people at the club), how many of you have actually done anything about it? (And no, I don't consider whinging to a board member/random at the club isn't doing anything about it)

See, I don't get the dissing of someone just because they are "well remunerated". What the hell does that have to do with it?

His record with us is poor. We know that. The club is in a diabolical state - not all his doing. Why is it that we get successful coaches to walk in our doors only to leave in embarrassment? Pagan, and now Malthouse. They are proven premiership coaches. Did they deliver the club squat, or did the club deliver them squat?

It wouldn't matter if we got Clarkson, Longmire or Ross Lyon right now. We'd still be bleak. But if you are going to terminate, then do it with dignity and honour. Not with ridicule and shame.

So you separated two bad tacklers from the herd?

Yep because they both play in defence..... Indicating another reason why the coach has shown limited capacity to develop a competitive team

Synbad - you have to be fair.
I'm not saying the board is totally innocent here, they are not. They made an appointment at the time they felt a seasoned coach will take this list where an inexperienced coach couldn't. Last roll of the dice and it failed.
But MM has flowered this up so much, it's beyond repair. Made terrible trades and lost key players without taking any responsibility.
You hire a person to do a job and you give them leverage to do it. Board hired him and need to take some blame but also all the decision made towards the playing list, game plan, fitness, etc. are MM's responsibilities. No hiding from that fact.

BINGO

I seriously think people are abit confused.
He was headhunted to take us to finals by a club that was desperate.
They threw millions at the problem and anointed Mick as their messiah.. The man who will lead the club out of misery and underperformance. That there place the club has been for over a decade..
Mick was unsuccessful proving he is no messiah...

Now the club
“This is a board making determinations on a legend of the game because they can't handle the pressure caused by a decade of failures "

The point is none of all those people getting sacked just " walled in "
Also
There is no such thing as a " previous administration " unless that means no sticks.. Newton and traynor..

Swan had his original Pratt contract rolled over two more times

Sticks was voted president unanimously by the board.

This is a problem way before Mick came to the club.

Mick might be crap but they sought him they negotiated his contract

They let him do what he wanted...
They are responsible

He didn't just walk in

So many letters and words for such meaningless content......
