Couple of posters on BF are claiming they've heard his name mentioned.
Would have to be in the mix if we go through all the right channels.
I'm hesitant to look at anyone in that head coach program; if I were a prospective head coach I'd want to hear the results before buying into something that makes you look like a rote learner rather than a creative individual.
I'd like to hear from people who genuinely watched the game Friday night, either at home or at the ground: what tactics did you see that you could identify?
Genuine answers, if you can manage it, not hyperbole and sarcasm.
I saw attempts at zone defending in midfield, I saw our kick out strategy built to try and nullify the forward pressure of the opposition, to protect our kicker from being mowed down too readily if they took the play on option.
In the same set play, there was an option to move the ball to Buckley by hand on the right flank if we didn't have a decent long option. There were misdirects and what the NFL would call a 'bubble pass' and there were screens to set this up as a means of shifting the zone. They weren't executing it particularly well, so it needs to be reinforced with simulation drills, but they were making the Pies players shuffle around a bit.
Sadly there wasn't much trust in any of these tactics after quarter time.
One that did come off a bit more consistently, was a late run forward into the empty hot spot, which we hit up several times for goals. I know we didn't kick many, but that's a nice weapon to add into the mix for us as part of a larger structure, if it ever manages to coalesce (it hasn't for 10 years, so not really holding up much hope when we have such dumb forwards beyond Menzel).
