Cret,
Why don't you describe the previous regimes gameplan first, which was all run forward of the ball because Judd was going to get it. Down hill skiing which mortgaged our future At least with malthouse I can see a willingness to defend first and build a list. Once the list has higher skilled players, we might be able to bring it through the coridoor Your negative low value opinions need to be seen within the context of what went before and what was left behind. We rode on the back of the best player in the comp and a good full forward and killed the future with poor trading and drafting. At least malthouse will leave a list that the next coach can build on, if he is not successful in his own right but you are so agenda driven you won't portion any credit to the malthouse era.
From what I have seen in the first two years of Micks coaching tenure, we have under performed. I don't know one carlton person who thought we would go backwards in 2013 and 2014 when Mick was first appointed (and I include myself in that positive outlook).
Now we may improve in 2015 and make the finals - I hope we do, but the reality of the past 2 years remains. And if you recall Micks comments about our list when he first arrived, he said he was happy with the list and wont be making too many changes.
To suggest that somehow we arent ready or skilled enough to play direct central corridor football is really not the point. Mick doesnt play the central corridor anyway. He went along the wings during the 2010 premiership year. Players cant learn to be dynamic and take the game on, if they play conservative football and a riskless, safe, uncontested and boring brand of football. You dont spend seasons on end learning to be defensive in the hope that one day you will be ready to attack and take the game on - Players and teams simultaneously work on all areas of the game.
And remember the game changes, all the time, in subtle ways, even within seasons. Mick is a very smart coach with lots of experience with individuals and teams. I really dont know what will happen next year.....as usual I will travel to Visy Park sign up again, pay my membership, maybe buy some stuff made in china from the Merchandise Shop for the kids, and walk out thinking,
"what the @#$%&! am I doing this again, should have helped out some worthy charity organisation instead?" (maybe that's what we have become - followers rather than ground breaking leaders in excellence.
Why expend energy and money on that sort of club culture?)

With regards to highlighted question you ask.....maybe because it has nothing to do with all that energy you expended in your post.
I ask similar questions about my addiction to CFC and my brethren (except the ones I'll punch out one day...because they're pretenders).
Its more about affiliation not alienation.
Its more about the good times not the bad times.
Its more about loyalty and brethren rather than winning and losing.
Its because you care about adding value than adding value to China.
Its just a game and it plays with your passion.
I want to win, and all I expect is that our footballers act in a committed and professional manner, and our off field leaders make the right decsions after doing their due diligence and not bringing politics into my club which may stiflr it.
There's bad decisions through bad luck and there's bad decisions through negligence. I dont really know which is which but what I do know is that the recruiters did a pathetic job over the last decade and the Elliot/ Parkin regime only thought about today and not tomorrow which put us in the position we're in. What has that got to do with the boot studder? the coach? the new recruitments team? the current board?
You do it for the love of Carlton. Its simple, so dont make it too complex.
I'm just about to call the club about renewing my family's and other friends' memberships..so we can vote for the heritage jumper, and to find out where all the footga efrom the Social day at the club is. Simple stuff really where the club fails but will improve.
You know, I've never used my membership to get into games around australia, I just pay for the privelege. But I am calling the club to find out the process to get into games as a member because its all been too hard in the past through Ticketek etc and going with non members, which usually happens when im intestate.
Why should I?...CFC brings me more enjoyment and entertainment than tears, despite being tested since 2002.
