Maybe the question needs to be asked why have our players gone backwards. Gibbs, murph, krooz, yazz, and others looked like they were all ready to one day dominate this league in their first couple of years. I would say it is no coincidence that majority of our list has flatlined or gone backwards. Our player development has been non existent for years. Maybe we asked too much of these guys too early in their careers ... ie I honestly believe our football club had destroyed krooze's career making him carry 90% of the ruck duties as a teenager into his early 20's and playing him when injured. We have run him into the ground. Hopefully with a long rest he can become the player we all know he can. As for Gibbs, I honestly believe he has been on of our most important player over the years and still is due to the times he has and can carry out as well as his versatility. But again I asked why has his career flatlined ? I don't blame the player and agree that I don't think the carlton footy club is the place for him to become a superstar. At the end of the day Bryce needs to do what is best for him ... And it hurts me to say this currently our footy club offers him little compared to some others.
Who do you blame, out of interest?
Gibbs must surely take responsibility for the way he plays. No one can coach a bloke fo put his body on the line. Gibbs is soft and that can't be coached. Gibbs won't play where the team needs him, only wants to be the midfielder racking up easy touches. I suppose thats the clubs fault too?
How many players can we blame at the one club before we start looking at how they got here and how they play as a unit?
