Interesting few days coming up..
Dusty Martin walks out,
Collins for Martin. Straight swap should get it done.....

I am so against getting Martin it's not funny. Without even going into personality and attitude I don't think he is that good a footballer.

Bingo BV. Thomas doesn't run both ways but somehow is what tricky Mick wants from a midfielder.
I think someone is pulling something and supporters are falling for it.

How do you know? You're so confident that you say I'm wrong yet you have no idea what I know or who told me?

What the hell has winning got to do with it?

I just want to know the truth.

i hear things....

and its easy for me to assume we have a shit oad of cash because.. eddie gone.. judd on less .. Laidler etc gone..

even after Eddie leaves.. and we get Thomas .. we have no room for another premium for trade or free agent...

yeah second and third graders sure!!!... if thats what youre saying ... but as things stand if a player we require is an A grader :

Psychologist have you ever heard of Neville Bartos???

"Theres no cash here... here theres no cash!!!.. there is no cash!!"

If we want a hardened ball winner who tackles and uses the ball well, he's hardly what we want.
Let alone making him our highest paid player on an extended contract.

If Mick wants someone to kick the ball with, theres cheaper and better options. Lets target a decent inside player who can apply better defensive pressure than what we already have. Not less.

Averages this, averages that?......

Career maybe but the Thomas we would hope to be getting is the 2010, 2011 version. We all know his deficiencies prior to that.

In those 2 years he laid more tackles than anyone for us in 2013 bar Curnow.

Say his ankle is stuffed, say we are paying too much, say he's only had 2 good years etc but dont tell me him at his best wouldn't make us a better offensive and defensive unit.

Daisy is one if thise players that keeps going when everyone else is cooked .

I vividly remember the 2007 second semi at Patersons where the game went to extra time and everyone on the field was cactus and Daisy screaming down the wing. What was that his second year? Inspirational stuff.

Big game player, just a matter of how his ankle holds up and what the rest of his body is like.

5 year contract to "hope" we're getting the 2010/11 version. What happened in 2012?
20 games. Averaging less tackles than Murphy, Judd, Gibbs this year?

3rd in their B&F once. How will he go being number 1 banana instead of having Swan and Pendlebury to take the heat for him.
I'm happy to get him but not on a 5 year contract and making him our highest paid player. That's stupidity IMO.
You can say "averages this, averages that" but the averages are the actual data of his career. They reflect his output.
As does his rating by their coaches in their B&F. If he's so good, why hasnt he won a B&F? Why hasnt he been a runner up?
Because he's a good average footballer.

If Thomas is coming, now that Martin is probably going to Collingwood, I think it's imperative (and beneficial for both clubs) to trade for Thomas.

Give Collingwood our second rounder, which will end up getting upgraded by compo for Betts anyway
Collingwood get a second rounder AND Martin for Thomas.

Perhaps even get Richmond in on the deal, with the threat that Collingwood don't go as hard for Martin, Martin walks to GWS in PSD, Richmond get nothing.

Convoluted - but here goes:

Carlton give Collingwood our second round pick (pick 30)
Carlton get Dale Thomas and approx pick 25 in exchange for Eddie Betts as a free agent
Collingwood trade their first round pick for Dustin Martin (pick 10)
West Coast trade their first and second round picks (6 and 24) to Richmond for pick 10 and Conca.

BB23 I think players have to have served the required number of years all at one club to be eligible for veterans list. That would exclude Judd and Scotland as veterans for us. Also, hasn't the amount of reduction for veterans been reduced to a $150k reduction for each veteran rather than 50% of their salary?

However, even if all I have said is true Greg Swan is still saying we have room for two players costing what Daisy is costing. So I guess Judds renegotiated drastically reduced contract, maybe Eddie leaving and/or other delistings is expected to free up plenty of cash.

It is a bit of a shame that Eddie Betts is eager to leave the club. He has been one of the more enjoyable Carlton players to watch in recent years. Sublime skills.

I would prefer to keep Eddie Betts, but I know the club can't afford $500k per year for him, so he has made his choice I guess and he will have to live with the consequences of chasing that bit more in $$$$$.

He could have left a powerful legacy as a player, but that is his decision and his alone.

I'm rapt to see Richmond get a bit of their own medicine. They've been raiding everyone elses lists recently. Good to see them taste it themselves.

Yep. I'm am far from convinced re: Watson either.

At this point we persist as he hasn't let anyone down yet at all at senior level and we actually might have missed him once he got injured. Meant Henderson had to go back in the end. Watson just opens up so much flexibility with the rest of the side so I hope he makes it.

Love to get Jesse White. Hope he's available like last year but he had a good season this time so I'm not sure. That would allow us to let someone like Waite to play on the wing.

jesse white another shit footballer..

Agree totally. The love for Jesse White is wrong. A very average footballer enjoying the top notch environment of the "bloods" footy team.

Did he? Okay

Thomas (FA)
Shuey (Trade for Yarran)
Adams (Trade for Hampson & 2nd round pick)
Lambert (Rookie)
Weller (FA)

That's 5. Didn't cost much either.

plus Hartung/Kelly or Salem with first round pick.
