How motivating do you reckon BM's comments today will be?

..depends on the player.. ....unfortunately, we can guess the kind of players we have, and assume their reactions to that statement..

Yup, or at the very least, show future prospective employers that you might have something to offer them.

Hawthorn had their line in the sand game against Essendon* a few years back.

It is time for Carlton to create their line in the sand match. Carlton might lose - as Hawthorn did all those years ago - but once they cross that bridge it will signify they won't be physically bullied anymore.

if one refers to Port Adelaide - one can see a remarkable change in their character this year.

I enjoy watching them because they give an honest 100% physical effort. Justin Westhoff - never the most physical player to play the game - lined up Watson legitimately on the weekend with a legal hip and shoulder. This would never have happened 2 years ago.

On the weekend, one of St Kilda's key midfielders- Leigh Montagna, Lenny Hayes or Nick Dal Santo - should be the target for a physical battering -legal physical battering.

They can be taken out of the game as an effective player for them (legitimately) with a solid hip and shoulder. One doesn't have to make it a head high hit for it to be effective as we saw with Westhoff.

Walker is the only one I can see who can do this type of action. Maybe Carrazzo or Tuohy...but it has to be someone other than Judd or Murphy who wants to be a real leader for the club.

These are the only three I can see who are capable of stepping up to be physical leaders. Perhaps Menzel down the track. A loss one can handle, but to suffer meekly physically to the opposition - that time has surely passed. A loss is a loss, but a loss of will power to put your body on the line should not occur again. Tackle hard, bump hard, get the hard ball. If they do this and lose so be it.

i will not be looking for my slippers this week.

there is no leadership... try they might but leadership nahhhh

this week will be a tight game but wasted opportunities and lose...in my opinion will be followed by a belting we get against north

sticks will continue to hide... make himself as least visible as possible and send mick or swann out to make the public statements...

id love to know what ace he think he has up his sleeve to use as president when so far he has been pathetic...!!!

hide yourself sticks.... hide buddy!!!... youre the president in 2014 ... let nothing get in the way...

I thought so until BM's comments.

Depends how the players react.

Although the CEO, The coach and now a powerbroker have basically said "youse are shit" or " youse are trade bait" most of the 22 who run out Saturday would have to think they are still a fair chance to be on our or someone else's list. Unless they happen to be Davies or Joseph .

Not sure.

McKay believed that Eddie Betts, who suffered a “stinger” to the hip in the same match, “had a run this morning and seemed fine, so he should be right”. He also said that Josh Bootsma (hamstring) and Heath Scotland (hip) should also be available for selection and added that Shaun Hampson, who suffered medial ligament damage to his knee in Sunday’s Northern Blues-Essendon contest at Windy Hill, had escaped surgery, but would be sidelined for four weeks.

McKay also advised that David Ellard, who was near completion of his rehab from a calf complaint, suffered a setback on the track last week and damaged another area of the calf.

“He (Ellard) hurt his calf, but it’s not in the same spot as the original injury, so I suppose that’s one ‘plus’,” McKay said.

“But he’ll be unavailable for three to four weeks.”

In further news, Jeremy Laidler had a screw removed from his knee earlier this week. McKay explained that with the Northern Blues experiencing the bye round at the weekend, Laidler took the liberty of having the screw surgically removed “because it was causing some discomfort”.

Ellards a bit of a forgotten man this year. Reckon we've missed him. What a write off the year has been for him.

yeah id say we missed ellard.. another expensive rookie pick investment in our premiership midfield.

you know why we missed him?... cos the rest of the midfield come with lesser rookie picks...

the good picks go on hbfer types and talls that cant run....

Yes, yes, we know your stance. I wasn't saying he would have put us top 4, just saying that he's clearly in our best team (perhaps that's an issue in itself) and is handy...in my opinion.

QFT.

I am sick of being bullied around by thugs like Clarkson's Hawthorn and the like.

Why can't we go and whack a few blokes to tell them that they'd better watch out when they go looking for the ball?

We're too nice. Time to get some aggro. Wayne Johnston, Jim Buckley - those kinds of players wouldn't have accepted the soft rubbish we currently dish out. It's like we're afraid to hit a few blokes.

It's football for crying out loud.

Say by some miracle we go on a long winning run.
What then of all this doom and gloom ?
