Cant do without them....or were shitter!!!

I haven't read past the first page of this thread, too depressing.

But...anyone else find it ironic that our midfield depth is poor, and is made even worse by the fact we're playing two genuine midfielders (Simpson and Walker) across half back while 8 half back flankers wallow in the seconds?

Yarran. I was told by two recruiters they wouldn't of had him in the top 20. We took him at 6. Talent wasn't the issue but desire and effort was. Flashy player

Menzel. Rated as talented as anyone but nowhere near as tough as his brother. Very unfit and unbelievably bad skinfolds. Flashy player. Geelong would NOT have picked him if available. Said he was most talented on list but that's not what they value as much as other characteristics. How many kids from last years draft are now playing and playing well. Our top pick is struggling at VFL level.

Lucas. Great engine and nice kid. Soft and poor awareness and lacks poise. Rated around Top 30.

I call bullshit!
Name the recruiters. Not some half arsed scout ... Recruiters who have a say...

I'm talking recruiters. That's why I said recruiters. I have some good mates who are "Recruiters".

Collingwood were terrible in that first 20 min. They were loose, their disposal was shit, pressure was non existent. It wasn't like we were brilliant.

Anyway, agree with others, long term job ahead. Funnily enough a lot of us came to that realisation after the Adelaide loss last year. Then we made a late run at the finals. Then we got Malthouse.

And now it's back to reality.

I think you mean the Port game but yes it does seem an eerily similar position.

Which is odd when you consider how much good trading and drafting we did at the end of last year... :banghead:

Like drafting a guy on a mill a year to get us instant results

And actually I did mean the Adelaide game. Got thrashed. The Port game was a couple of weeks later & was the shit icing on the cake.

I was as low as could be last night. Rock bottom.

Feel even worse today.

Very sobering, heartbreaking and depressing to know we are [REDACTED] and light years away from being a legitimate force. On and off field.

We've been sold a lie, another one.

Membership will be 45k next year.

They won't get three from me.

The board can buy the whole flower lot next year.

Only one more Fiday night game this year. In a fortnight against North.

Does it matter if they were scouts or recruiters..they're all part of a recruitment Dept.

Theat's what they said. I don't think they're far off with their description of Yarran, not sure if he their rating was right.

Point is you'd expect that pick 6 would be the complete package...just not good enough to be top 3.

I reckon Yarran is a show pony. Loved him at HBF when he had a job to do then when he got it had space and pace to burn....another HBF for pick 6!!!!

I'm not renewing my dozen either...until I see Sticks gone and the board decreased in size and positions taken by those worthy, passionate and have the time to do the job.

Sticks has served the club...not well..but served iy nevertheless.
Him staying on as President has the same suspicious stench as Elliot did trying to hold on to his position of power...and he got found out by the AFL...whereas we know about Sticks from experience and the results dont lie....the club does though.

Last night was a bit like one of those terrible weak losses we have against average teams after we've won three on the trot. Only we didn't win three on the trot.

It was the shellacking that had been building after all our "solid" efforts against the best teams.

But wow.....just deplorable from a supposedly proud club to cave in like they did in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Sure they had some issues losing Waite, and Robinson's shoulders are sore (but why play a guy with one effective arm ????), but the complete, and total lack of willingness to put a body on the line or "fly the flag" in a crucial game was amazing. And this was against a side with a third of their best players out !

I think we'll look back on this game as a watershed moment in the modern history of the CFC. I reckon it was like the Hawthorn "line in the sand" game......only in reverse. Mick should study the replay closely and use it to assist in the end of year cull, that I'm tipping will be one of the most savage in the history of the CFC.

The good news is that we have just the man in place for a re-build. He did it with Coll'wood after he knew the team that lost those those two GFs to the Brions had run their race.....they then got Pendles and Daisy in that famous draft and launched them to the 2010 flag. The only question is.....has Mick still got the energy and drive to do it one more time ? I think the answer is yes - he's a very driven and proud bloke (who some hate of course) and he'll be determined to get the job done. Goodbye Carlton of the Ratten era....you gave me some good memories but also a lot of pain.

Time to play the Watto's and Squids of the world. We need to see if they have anything to offer at AFL level - even if we think they probably don't. I don't think GWS will trade top pick for a Kruez+ package, but we should at least try. Don't want to trade for Gumby as he's injury prone and we've endured that from Waite for so long :yikes:

ps how have they managed ro ruin Chris Yarran ? And WTF happened to Kruizer after 1/4 time ??

Exactly Bondi.
How can Sticks seriously remain?

I dont believe Hendo faded when switched to CHF.

The ball didn't get to him and he froze.

That implies we need the midfield sorted first with the types that win the position and then deliver to Hendo, Boyd, Hawkins.
No supply = no goals = failure.

Our misfield, I mean midfield failed miserably last night....apart from Judd..he had someone on his tail every time he got it.
Thank god he found some pace and space at times to deliver the ball long into our forwardline because Lucas (good effort for 33 touches), McLean, Carrazzo, Robbo, Gibbs or Murphy didn't deliver the ball into our forward 50 to give our forwards a chance.

Is it because Hudson worked out Kreuzer after the first than squashed him?
Would the same have happened if we had the taller ruckman against Hudson?

We got exposed in the ruck, the midfield and the KP posts last night.
There's a lot to fix to be back on the winners list against the top 10, and a hell of a lot to fix to make the finals again, and a half decades rebuild to give us a chance to play for a Flag...imo.

We are not in a good space atm.......going off the idea of targeting Boyd, when we need a ruck to deliver to a midfield which competes hard and has the class and poise to deliver accurately to a team mate's advantage.

Lazy footballers at Carlton, flashy, but great spectators.

..you can have the best ruck in all time, but if the mids stop working hard, they make zero difference.. ..krooz kept competing, mclean and judd worked hard but dont get enough minutes in the middle.. ..krooz, judd and mclean cant carry an entire midfield.

Judd worked hard, but no longer hurts teams with his diposals esp by foot. Watch replay and see how many of his kicks found a target. Doesn't help with no fwd line though.
