It was the shellacking that had been building after all our "solid" efforts against the best teams.
But wow.....just deplorable from a supposedly proud club to cave in like they did in the 2nd and 3rd quarters. Sure they had some issues losing Waite, and Robinson's shoulders are sore (but why play a guy with one effective arm ????), but the complete, and total lack of willingness to put a body on the line or "fly the flag" in a crucial game was amazing. And this was against a side with a third of their best players out !
I think we'll look back on this game as a watershed moment in the modern history of the CFC. I reckon it was like the Hawthorn "line in the sand" game......only in reverse. Mick should study the replay closely and use it to assist in the end of year cull, that I'm tipping will be one of the most savage in the history of the CFC.
The good news is that we have just the man in place for a re-build. He did it with Coll'wood after he knew the team that lost those those two GFs to the Brions had run their race.....they then got Pendles and Daisy in that famous draft and launched them to the 2010 flag. The only question is.....has Mick still got the energy and drive to do it one more time ? I think the answer is yes - he's a very driven and proud bloke (who some hate of course) and he'll be determined to get the job done. Goodbye Carlton of the Ratten era....you gave me some good memories but also a lot of pain.
Time to play the Watto's and Squids of the world. We need to see if they have anything to offer at AFL level - even if we think they probably don't. I don't think GWS will trade top pick for a Kruez+ package, but we should at least try. Don't want to trade for Gumby as he's injury prone and we've endured that from Waite for so long
ps how have they managed ro ruin Chris Yarran ? And WTF happened to Kruizer after 1/4 time ??
