I got Section M row L on the 50 metre line last night, 7 tickets. Some may not think that's decent but it's better than Q, especially for the kids :)

I cant for the life of me work out how they sell these tickets. A bit of luck it seems, the earlier you buy the tickets the worse they are.
Take some poncho's.

The AFL just try to maximise the ticket revenue.

They don't seem to believe in the 'First in Best Dressed' philosophy.
Nor do they believe in rewarding club members who stump up membership cash with access to decent seats.

If there are cruddy seats that will be hard to sell, the AFL release those seats first, so that they can be certain of selling the nosebleeds.

Meanwhile they drip-feed and charge top dollar for the decent seats, and I am convinced that often they exclude those good seats from the "club membership upgrade" ticket category, so that you have to pay $30 or $40 or whatever it is to get a decent seat.

It's all about making sure they can maximise revenue. They don't care who gets what seat.

A lot of the time it's just pot luck to get the seats you want.

Ticketek/Ticketmaster don't care as long as they get their fee for each seat.

Yes I spoke to a lady from Ticketek last year and she said to keep checking several times throughout the day in the the weeks leading up to a game and you may find that some good tickets become available. It's worked for me about 4 times so far. The Tuesday night before the game seems to be the lucky time for me. I was actually offered level N this Tuesday but chose the 3rd offer for section M for the good of the 5 kids that we are taking, they really enjoy the ground level.

Yep I am generally a fan of Curnow and Cachia. They always put in massive efforts.
But there's been a theory going round lately that our midfield might be erring too far on the side of lock-down / tagging.
I think there might be a bit of sense in that.
The Pies midfield is still pretty decent, and we need to match them.

IMO it's been a bigger issue than our forward line.
we really do lack depth in ball winning ability.

Do you have anything to actually back that up?

We're 3rd in contested possessions per game, 4th in clearances per game and 4th in inside 50s per game.
Thats top 4 in the AFL for winning the ball and getting it inside 50.
Not only that, we're 2nd in the AFL for clearances per game compared to our opposition so not only do we win the ball, we prevent our opposition winning it. "Lack depth in ball winning ability"? Our ball winning is OK, as it has been for the past 4 years.
All that with our vice captain missing most games and our captain currently out with a broken jaw. 2 of our best midfielders. :?

Its our uncontested ball thats killing us. That wont change while we continue to kick long to contests instead of hitting up runners on the spread.

That and a lack of decent forwards to capitalise on the hard work of the mids/defenders.

I could not agree with you more.

The most frustrating part of watching Carlton play.

We just do not work hard enough to create space /run hard into space once in possession. Get that right and we'll bat deep into September. Starts with our amateur kick ins from FB and falls apart after that...unless we are lucky enough on the odd occasion to suck in the opp defenders up the ground and Hollywood Betts/Garlett/Yarran run onto it.

If we're going to tag we'd tag:

One on One defenders on their opponents a given.

Swann has been hanging in the forwardline, and I'd give him to Carrazzo (if he's not sub)
Pendlebury in the midfield needs a good runner and I'd pick Curnow (Cachia is the alternative).
Heath Shaw at HB I'd give to Armfield as the defensive forward.

McLean can't tag and is good at peeling off at bounces
Robinson is tough at it in the midfield and wins contested footy
Judd has pace and wins contested footy (want him outside though and forward), line breaker
Murphy has pace and wins contested footy (want to see him forward too), line breaker
Gibbs has been winning his own ball in the midfield and reads the game well without being a line breaker
Yarran on a wing express breaking lines and having shots at goal or lead up players
I think MM likes the pace and supporting outside run Lucas brings to the team

So what does Cachia do? Tag or Sub.

I'd pick Cachia, Betts or Lucas as subs with Lucas coming on for last quarter burst of speed as he did earlier on in the year.

We will kill them if we bring our A game for 100 minutes. Plenty of stamina in that team and welcome back McInnes.

Best team of the year on paper. No excuse.

Disappointed to see someone else named at CHB.
Carrazzo to be sub?

Swap Robbo and Simmo and then line them up as named. I like the look of Walker at CHF. I think that team is pretty well balanced as it is, although there isn't any chance it would line up that way.

*If* we do win....

I reckon it will be a shellacking.

The floodgates will open and they will be demoralized ..... ala some of the times we have whacked Essendon* in recent years.

If we are on target with our inside 50s and goal kicking, it could be a picnic.

Having said that there are a lot of small pies players out there licking their lips hoping they'll have a birthday out there tomorrow...

Blues by 36 (hopefully!!!!!!!!)

Good ins this week, looks to be a strong team. McInnes is back which is a huge plus for us, he was in great form before he did his knee

I'm thinking late change too, maybe Carrazzo ... hope not!

This is from a Collingwood supporter mate:

"Russell is an absolute spud, couldn’t believe when we recalled him. I would take Marty Clarke 100 times over him.

50/50 game. Will probably chuck some money on Carlton to ease the pain if we lose."

They have their worst side in years, if we can't beat them I officially give up on 2013.
