No worries diesel. Glad you got it sorted. Clinton is a good operator. He's ironing out the problems - that whole department will gel eventually.

A few must have taken up the 3 game membership which included a seat last night.
Better numbers.

I heard Greg Swan on SEN last Friday and he stated that we were selling 3 game memberships until the end of July.
I always thought membership sales closed on June 30.

Clubs will still have to provide the AFL with their June 30 totals.

I'm sure the club isn't trying hard enough.

I know ex members who have yet to receive a call from the membership dept convincing them or giving them good reason to join again.

Quite pathetic really. Its just a campaign...on the phones...get a few of the players together....give it a burl.

If they dont achieve 50K I am going to brand them losers from then on.
I'm not going to forgive them thereafter till we get to 60K.

Bit harsh because in reality - it works both ways. Onus is on the supporter too. I know some Carlton supporters are getting down on the club - but the reality of it is that we were second to Collingwood last year in terms of revenue made from membership. To get 50k (or pretty darn close to it) is a great effort considering that 8,000 didn't renew from 2012 and the apathetic nature of a lot of Carlton supporters.

Sure...Richmond sit at 60,000 members - but they're giving away free three game memberships to Indians and counting that in the figure! Great idea, very philanthropic and multicultural etc etc...but they're generating a figure that gets the Tiger faithful excited and the other clubs thinking 'Struth, a sniff of finals and they came out of the woodwork don't they' when in reality it isn't generating much revenue...yet.

...on the plus side for the Tigers - it's now into its second year and it might soon reap huge dividends. Don't be surprised if Gale and co go to Mumbai this summer and sign a massive deal. It's very clever use of the brand. Carlton could do similar you know...one of the world's leading universities sits on its doorstep. If you were worried about revenue, you could even set up a 'Carlton Membership Contribution Scheme' (works like HEC's)...the club pays for your membership while you're a student and then once you earn a certain amount, you pony up the bill.

Winner, winner - chicken tandoori dinner!

Hey Doc - you should send through that idea to Membership - if they will take notice, that is.
I think it's great - BTW

Oh I have thousands of ideas for the club Wangers....some of them are good...some wouldn't work in a million years and some they're not quite ready for.

I'm that person who keeps a pen and pad next to his bed and wakes at 3am to write some random thought down.

Carlton actually resemble Australia quite a bit (in my opinion). Enormous potential, could be the best at many things - but seemingly too afraid to break with the norm. Content to follow an already tried model rather than take the lead and show others how things can be done.

Its just a number. We're going good. Smashed our previous best.
Pokies are gonna pump us up anyways.
I don't see why you're so bitter.

I have listening to SEN this morning for the usual Carlton bashing from KB and it was mentioned by a caller that Richmond is nearing 60,000 members and it wasnt too late to join them as memberships start at $50. Our 3 game memberships start at $90, as do other clubs, so what type of membership do Richmond have for $50 and why do they include them in their numbers?
As for the 8,000 members who have not rejoined this season, this may be misleading. Up until this year a family membership of 2 adults and 2 juniors was the same price as 2 adults. This year the ticket increased as the juniors had to be paid for when they were previously effectively free. I know several members who put down relatives children as the junior members but they never went, this year they didnt as they had to pay extra. This has no doubt had an effect on our numbers.
