Clearances still need a bit of work. To only just edge the worst clearance team in the comp despite Warnocks dominance was a bit disappointing.

perhaps related to Judds obvious decline in dominance. Not the same stoppage king he used to be. haven't seen his stats for this game, but suspect his dominance in congestion in 2013 isn't what it used to be.

I haven't seen the stats, but remember hearing the commentators saying in the last quarter that Judd had quite low possessions for him but still had more clearances than any one else on the ground.

ahh ok, interesting as i got the opposite impression, but stats don't lie so i guess that's not the issue..

DU, I have a suspicion that MM is limiting the time that CJ spends on the ball in order to develop the other mids and take the pressure of Juddy. Remember him saying earlier in the year that he thought that other players needed to step up to lessen the reliance on C Judd. Nice to have the luxury of the champ being a fringe player.... and fresh for the second half of the year.

I have no doubt this is the case, Judd spends so much time out of the centre square . At one stage we had Cachia, Ellard and Brock taking the centre bounces. We would have being killed and we would have panicked if that had happened last year or the year before, because we would have been smashed. MM I think is seeing who will sink and who will swim, and there is no where to hide, coz I'm not getting Juddy to come in and save you.

Big forwards need to do more

Problem with the big forwards is Hampson did all his good work on the ball, where he plays best. He is simply no good as a key forward. Leaving him there will shatter his confidence completely. Played really well running around the ground. His problem comes when Kreuzer returns as Warnock will keep his place.

Time to bring back Casboult. Playing good footy for the NBs. Play he and Waite in the key positions and let the rucks just concentrate on rucking. They'll still be handy for the odd mark and goal still resting forward.

We were discussing this about hammer, and it seemed he was still lining up at FF/CWH at the bounce , and then would float out to the wing to be one out and having the ball kicked directly at him without it being bombed , and without him competing against others. Once he marked one or two, I think he surprised himself, and his confidence grew. He hates the ball kicked miles in the air still, he prefers it lower and straight at him, not being a natural footballer I think . Good move again from MM.

What's was Ratts best winning streak as coach ? Mick might either beat or equal it already if we win next week.

Hope so, but he couldn't beat Richmond.

Couldn't watch live but watched a replay tonight.

Will take the 4 points and a 10 goal win any day of the week.

Got the job done without really impressing all that much for mine. A workmanlike 10 goal win, which is fine by me.

On to next week. Huge game for us.

Apologies Jim, I wasn't sure how to get around the quotation limitation thing in my earlier post.

I was referring to the above

Speaking of Hammer, MM gave him a good wrap in his presser. interesting as it appears to contradict the majority view in here.

Yeah, nah, it just confirms that the experts are here and the chumps and wannabes are running the club.

Good to see us go coast to coast from kick outs this week. We did it a few times and it worked most of the time. Long kicking quick ball movement and we are unstoppable with our pace and guile.

Our draw opens up a bit now, hopefully we try out some more set plays that work as well. Then be ready for the tough middle section of the fixture from Round 11.

Pros:

10 goal win. Kept the opposition to a low score.
Nice to see Cachia run around.
Nice to see Hammer return to some form. But he still can't get on the scoreboard. If he's going to demand an ongoing spot in the team, he needs to be able to kick 1 or 2 goals, even on a bad day.
Great to see Waite back in the team. We're a far better team when he plays.
Warnock and Murphy good.
Jamo, Hendo and Walker excellent again.
Garlett.
Best Curnow's looked with ball in hand.
Armfield's kicking has improved so much.

Cons:

We only won by 10 goals.
The umpiring.
Robbo's marking was poor today.

Great point. Although I wonder if there was a problem with Melbourne's zone.

Thankful for the win...

Lucas - what is up with him? His disposal is awful and he often gets himself into a corner then panics and turns it over. The guy obviously knows how to get the ball. I kinda see him in a similar vein to Pfeiffer...

Nice work Dennis.

Hendo, Brock both doing very well!

Waite needs to focus on the ball not the man hanging off him. Brain fades not professional and he's on borrowed time.

I am very appreciative for the umpires and good on them for the work they do. However - today was poor.

Melbourne sucked us into their level of incompetence and we fell for it. I long for the time when days like this are clinical and no-brainers rather than getting two quarters in and thinking they may get back into it...

Hope so, but he couldn't beat Richmond.

Yes but Ratts couldnt win more than 4 in a season...... youre not going to get very far if your players fall at every hurdle...

Last week after Yarran and Garlett kicked goals in the last quarter, Anthony Hudson said something like "gee they can really play those.....small forwards the blues have down there"
