Not for what I'm hearing.

Jamison is touch and go and Gibbs looks somewhat unlikely.

If not Ellard & Watson in for me.

We will need him in the second half.. so lets get him properly fit before we start using him on the bench...

agreed

Want to get him fit. Play him in the AFL, no better place to do it. He can handle it.

I'm excited as the next person to see Menzel play, but where? The three amigos are carving it up at the moment.

Is Mitch Clark back for them this week ? If so, would be a big blow if we lose Jamo. We all saw how easily Tex was cutting our defence up prior to his injury last night.

Given that it is Melbourne we are playing this week, I wouldn't mind seeing Gibbs rested to ensure there isnt a significant injury to his hammy down the track. Unless of course he is 100%.

I would like to see Hampson dropped and one of our fwds in the VFL come up (Mitchell or Casboult - whoever is fitter and showing form). I am happy to see Rowe on the park for us for another month or so, particularly considering the opponents we have coming up are definitely winnable games. It looks like he needs game fitness, and of course more matches. Yep he is a mature recruit but to me that is irrelevant given where he has come back from. Horses for courses - this horse needs more track time before being put down IMHO.

Getting some more contributions from our tall fwds is the biggest priority for me. Maybe with White doing OK down back we can afford to move Henderson to CHF? I wouldn't mind seeing a couple of 'experimental' changes like that from MM this week, so long as we stay on top of Melbourne. If we lose because the players think we are going to have it easy I will choke on my own vomit.

What sort of a half baked, soft cock effort is that?

You don't rate him. You've spent the equivalent of an academic essay telling us such, yet you come up with the equivalent of giving him one more chance.

Stick to your guns. It can only add to your crediibilty.

And don't give us this bullshit that MM has no one else to replace him with. If MM thinks he's not pulling his weight, he'll drop him.

IMHO, he's been one of MM's successes this year (and believe me, I'm not a glass half full person when it comes to Carlton)

Out: Hampson (omit) White (omit) Gibbs Jamo (if injured)
In: Mitchell (just give him a go at senior level), Laidler, Ellard/White or Watson (for Jamo)
One more chance for Rowe...Spend all week on ruck practice

Nothing soft cock in saying Ratten was a dud coach.. pretty sure people are realising that now.
And nothing soft cock about saying we have a Rapahel Clarke on our hands.
These things are not mutually exclusive.

Whats soft cock is accusing me of making soft cock remarks when you dont understand that

..if Gibbs and Jamo are injured, then that's already 2 changes.. ..would not risk either if they are borderline..

..otherwise.... ..i don't like chucking players in and out, but Hampson hasn't been up to his usual standard, and his usual standard isn't so flash so he's definitely in the gunsights to be dropped.. ..Rowe tries hard, and as a battler will now and then have his good moments.. ..but he struggles, and playing CHF and relief rucking at times has got to be wearing down what fitness base he has..

..maybe Boult gets a recall, most likely for Hampson.. ..from ressie reports i don't think there's much there to come in, in regards to KPPs.. ..would keep Menzel getting his fitness up in the vfl. maybe recalls for Bell, possibly Ellard.. ..i think Buckley with more fitness is good chance later on..

I wonder if playing in Perth last week contributed to our last qtr fade out :?:

I thought our decline began when we started lairising in the 2nd qtr.

We had an extra day on Adelaide anyway.

Made mention of this in the match thread. Got very sloppy and cute in the 2nd.

We had the opportunity to be ruthless today and failed IMHO.

Trust MM will drive this point home during the week.

Yep, we still have that mental fragility we need to deal with. Perhaps that might come with more belief. Ratts wasn't able to address the issue, hopefully Mick can.

Bert, I cant see White going out. I think he is coming along nicely. He has a turn of speed that neither Duigan or Laidler have. My changes: Casboult for Hampson and Bell for Gibbs (if injured).

Yep, have liked White's progress under Mick as well, even if it might be what you might describe as steady. Likewise Lucas who I think is improving even though he seems to have filled JR's spot as the latest whipping boy.

If not Ellard & Watson in for me.

Watson is a spud and played like one again yesterday....He has no idea how to put any body contact on his opponent...He played on Bonnodio yesterday who continually outmarked him. Bonnodio is a right foot kick and yet Watson continued to run to Bonnodio's right side forcing Bonnodio on his preferred right side....Watson has no idea and I would prefer they give Macarthy a go.

Menzel and Buckley were both very good and and are not far away from regular senior footy...

Casbolt did not do enough to warrant a game in the 1s.

Mitchell had enough of the ball up forward but spayed his set shots and should have finished with 4+ goals..

Waite looks like he got through the game and is to good to be playing in the VFL...

Bell was also good and aggresive at the contest but there are doubts on his footy smarts...needs to improve his decision making...

Ellard is ready to resume in the 1s...

Hampson and Lucas both in the gun this week....

Gibbs won't play as has strained a hammy and not worth the risk against Melbourne...

Back pocket of course.

HBF once he's earned the coach's trust.

Maybe after 100 games he can play mid/fwd.

Wtf is wrong with people on this forum?
Watch the replay ...
Lucas did well, has continually improved and is not "in the gun".
You're summary of all our players in the VFL lost all credibility after that comment.
Lucas is quick, hard working and skillful.
He need a bit more polish and stronger tackles but thats it.
He is in no danger of being dropped

..agreed, i think Lucas is tracking along nicely, still plenty of work to do on his individual game but seems to be trying hard to address it, and is certainly a player that will work hard both ways..

Melbourne had only 2 players with 20+ possessions yesterday.

After seeing Reserves today here's what I would do:

B: Tuohy Jamison Laidler
HB: Gibbs White Walker

Foll: Warnock Judd Murphy
C: Yarran Carrazzo Lucas

HF: Garlett Henderson Menzel
F: Betts Casboult Waite

Int from: Scotland Armfield McLean Ellard Robinson Simpson ?? I don't know who to drop :yikes:

Talk today is that Jamison & Gibbs are fine.
Casboult although not dominating is a better forward than Hampson and rucked well.
Waite looked fit so play him. Sitting in the VFL serves no benefit
Menzel has the skills and worked hard. Get him in.
Ellard a vital addition
Laidler is needed, especially his ball use
I'd like to play Bell as well.

Someone's clearly hacked his account.

Only 5 changes and not one of them "Bring McCarthy and/or Watson in and play them on the opposition's star forward"? I smell a rat.

Admittedly, Melbourne are somewhat lacking in this regard..

I'd rather see Laidler come in than Watson if the reports on Watson in the VFL are true. Hampson out is a call I agree with but Malthouse will keep him as a bonafide 2nd ruck.

Simon White, Henderson and Laidler should be able to do the job on their forwards, surely.

It'll be an interesting selection if Clark comes in. It was reported he's a week by week scenario which means he must be some way off fitness. I wonder if Dawes is close to an inclusion.

Nathan Jones is a gun and Curnow or Armfield or whoever they send to him has to do a great job. The other must probably get Sylvia.

If we aren't on our game this is one Melbourne will pinch through the likes of Howe and Tapscott. Show the same mentality as we did Adelaide and it should be a hiding to nothing for the Dees.
