How can a gun coach who has had a whole year to watch us and analyse us sign on to the blues after months of talks (according to those on the inside) turn up and not make a single trade and then only now discover the magnatude of our teams bad habits?
I call bullsh!t on that.
The only bad habit that is costing us is the one where we lie down when the game is truely up for grabs.
Where is the hard edge defensive style that is going to make us horrible to play against? Just a hint of it?
When i see something that any other coach in the land couldnt do i will give the guy some credit. For now though he is AVERAGE.
This press conference was average too.
The reason he couldn"t make a trade was due to our poor list management. Lets wait and see what trades are done come the end of this season.....I dare say there will be multiple trades and yes MM will more than likely play everyone on the list to ascertain who can play the way he wants them to and who can't....
We got beaten by a Team that MM put together, drilled and disiplined and took more than just 5 months to put together...Give the bloke a chance...
People keep saying we couldnt make a trade due to salary cap. I don't understand that. Poor list management was because we didnt make a trade.
If we dont shake the mental/physical softness this year it has been a wasted year. I personally would have mixed it up last pre season as to me and most of the football world it looked like we were flogging a dead horse. What we have seen this year so far hasn't changed my mind.
Malthouse apparently approved our list?
I keep reading the same posts about list management, contract negligence and trade restrictions.
We spent over 1.5 million dollars paying out a senior coach and 3 other coach’s.
What was stopping us from keeping the assistants paying out the list cloggers as some put it (which wouldn’t have been that much) then trading or drafting for need, select kids or mature players?
Couldn’t Malthouse advise or steer those assistants and the current playing group in his direction or are we over estimating Micks ability or underestimating those he is surrounded by?
Look at chocos influence at the tigers, apparently not all that bad and a hard approach towards his expectations.
Something we haven't seen yet.
Just slightly off the subject but I'm sure he would have been interested if approached.
