I will find it interesting to see who is "in our best 22" when it comes to the ruck position.
Whoever is picked as the ruckman for Carlton - I hope he can kick some goals as well.
Warnock - 5 games - 0 goals
Kreuzer - 20 games - 10 goals
Hampson - 13 games - 15 goals
Hampson did spend much more time in the forward line than in ruck comparative to Kreuzer, so technically the best in this regard looks like Kreuzer.
Whoever is their primary ruckman should be aiming for 15-20 goals per season.
Madden in 1987 kicked 20 goals. Kreuzer could get 15-20 goals if fit.
Kreuzer 88 games 48 Goals including
2008 13 goals 1 behind (kicked 12 straight before his first behind. Not a bad effort from a fit young fellow in his first season - 20games)
2009 13 goals 11 behinds (23 games)
2010 5 goals 4 behinds (13 games)
2011 7 goals 7 behinds ( 12 games)
2012 10 goals 8 behinds ( 20 games)
So based on the above I concur that if fit, and he really hasn't been fully fit the last 3 or so seasons, he should be able to contribute 20+ goals per season, perhaps even more with the right amount of support. Matty himself has admitted in the last few weeks that he hasn't been able to properly practice his goal kicking in recent seasons due to the need to manage his workload at training due to his (and the other ruckmens's ) bad run with injury and form. A fully match fit Kreuzer with a solid pre-season behind him and some confidence back in his game could be a major surprise to many football watchers this year and be a significant contributor to our goal kicking tally.
