Is there anybody that is close to the club that can give an excuse for the reason Ratten's sacking is taking so long?
There's 38 board members and it takes time to gather them all in the one place.
Jeannie probably needs her rest.
3 days ago, Sticks was probably sinking crownies with a few fellow board members throwing around the idea of giving Ratts another 3 years, 'cos he'd turned the corner and addressed all his weaknesses in a 4 week period.
We probably don't have a board, we probably have 2 or 3 boards, each with their own take on things.
There is not a single leader at the club who can drive this thing. Swann has his power base. The Pratts have theirs. The Matheisons theres. Kernahan has a couple of mates there. But no true leadership. It's an effing dog's breakfast.
And, to be fair, there's no point sacking a guy with one game to go. At least not publicly.
(I'm not close to the club. Thank God.)
I know it's only Barrett, but just claimed this morning on the C9 Footy Show that Swann and Ratten dont speak, and I have heard elsewhere that there is a story going around that it was going to be one or the other that survived next year.
I've lost track these days, but is this a common one? Does anyone get on with anyone down there any more?
I know that Mickstar is constantly telling him to mind his own business and worry about the off-field stuff, others have speculating that he got lazy and comfortable in his position since Richard passed on, others reckon he simply uses the power and position as a gateway to the mixing with the corporate world.
Like JohnM, I'm obvioulsy not close to the club, but apart from AndyMac do we have faith in anyone to get anything right in this entire club 'review'?...
