Noticed article in the Age today by Jesse putting us third worse on the injury list for 2012 -similarly to AFL site analysis a week or so ago - has us behind west coast and carringbush just in terms of injuries to the key players
analysis probably doesnt go to 4TH Chooks thesis on players other than the best 22 being injured but still shows that both westcoast and collingwood on the face of this analysis have coped better with injuries as it is likely they will make the 8 at the end of the season and we wont(hoping we do of course)
Noticed the article too - and again its poorly 'researched'
apparently...
- hampson isnt in the best 20 despite having played 13 games this year and only being out of the team due to injury (4 games thus far)
- warnock IS in the best 22 and has only missed 2 games due to injury despite missing the first 8 rounds whilst coming back from a shoulder and having played 5 games before being dropped due to poor form.
- judd having missed 0 games, despite not playing in rd 6 due to general soreness (the 'next' level of the grouping)
- yarran having missed 4 games due to injury instead of 3 (the 'next' level of the grouping)
- waite has actually missed 11 games rather than 10
The 'best' players list also changes a fair bit over the course of the season which is why it is so important to look at the full extent of injuries. From the best 22 vs the tigers Bell (back), casboult (knee) and davies (shoulder) have all missed huge chunks of the season due to long term injuries. There's also a strong possibility that white (knee) will be in the team this week (or very soon).
Are these guys best 20-22? - that would be subjective but I'd hazard a guess that many of you would currently have Bell firmly entrenched into your best 22...
