2006 was a poor draft. From 2007 on it is not as bad as it looks. We could pull Watson and another kpp out of 2010 plus duigan.
Kruezer crueled by injury and may recover (unlucky)
Lucas has never had a shot (lack of development)
We had no Picks last year who's fault is that not recruiters & out of 2 picks more than likley 2 100 gamers (Boots & Bucks) and buckley at 62!!!! (anti youth policy)
Rhys O'keefe is an outside chance to make it which would make 2008 3 out of 4. Injury has cost O'keefe (unlucky)
Darling over Watson & Cotchin over Kreuzer are line ball decisions and you have to view the decision within context. We just recruit judd so are you going to pick cotchin over Kreuzer? (although I remember someone on here implored us to take Cotchin?). Also we just solve the behavioural issue with Fev- it would have taken a very brave person to go darling over Watson.
Our trading is worse than our recruiting.
Development is more at fault than recruiting
Our trading
is part of our recruiting. Perhaps you mean drafting. Call it list management if you like but it must improve markedly.
There are people on here that say that we were all right at the end of last year,
almost beating West Coast, and then in virtually the same breath say that we can't develop players. I mean, come on, so all of this has occurred in less than a year? Ratten became a crap coach overnight too?
I think it's a combination of things that have been building up to the point where we have finally caved in. In my own clumsy way, I warned our recruiting methods would create problems with the depth of our list. You just can't make the difference up with rookies year after year. We overrate our success with them, as well.
