The result is inconsequential.

Whilst that is sarcastic it IS one of the positives. Every game that Tuohy, Watson (great effort last two weeks) and Bootsma play is worth its weight in gold.

Before the season I didn't expect to win it. We are not going to now. It's important that no matter where we finish this year, we don't waste it. Fringe players are getting chances (and many are blowing it) but this WILL improve our depth long term. Think Geelong 2006 - it can turn quickly. We are still the 4th or 5th youngest team. Our best 22 is as good as anyones. If we bring tonight's effort every night I will be happy. Its when we don't that I (and everyone else) gets filthy.

Thought we were on top in the first and should have lead by more.
3rd quarter we started very well.Walker selfish a few times.Collins a little untidy with his forward 50 entries. Jeffy had to kick the goal just before 3 quarter time.Thought they started to get on top when Warnock went off.

Overall effort was good. Back line played well with the exception of a few AJ brain farts .Harry Taylor going forward for them in the last was a big win.Not sure who was picking him up but he ended up with 8 marks.
Yarran in the forward 50 for the last quarter instead of providing run from the back.Interesting.Had he kicked the 2 goals we may have thought it a master stroke. In particular the poster at the start of the 4th...other end, goal.

Thought Duigan and Hendo played well on return. Kruz out on his feet late.Zac showed good signs again. The 2 young boys good.Brocks first half also good but faded late.
Would have liked to see more damage from Judd and Robbo.Robbo is all crash and bash.Simmo high possession earner but again i didnt feel he hurt the opposition.A little out of sorts with his hands tonight.

A lot of positives to take out of the match. Not a win, but it should have been.Something to build on, in particular if we can get another one or two players back.

Umpiring just about the worst I have seen this year and that's saying something.

Kreuzer pulled up limp in a marking contest in the last quarter. The rumours about his knee come to mind at the time, if true, no point playing him, problem is Warnock got injured again and we have no 4th ruckman fit.

pleased with the effort, however we still lost. Simply not enough reward for our efforts. Has been a problem for a few years now.

Hampson had a shocker, reckon he cost us the game. We look better when Warnock is in the ruck. Pity his body is so fragile. Kreuzer still does not do enough.

With some of our key players in tonight, I think we would have won the game. So its not all bad. Although, I think this year is gone.

warnock going off really hurt. Was dominating.

In a way the improved effort was bloody annoying. Beaten by the better side tonight but last week beaten by ourselves!

Seriously unucky not to win it and without Judd who was very disappointing and really needed him to stand up and play a blinder.
Too many players in current make up go missing when heat is on and fail to lay the tackles and dig in. Jospeh and McLean I am looking at you.
Don't care about stats it's how they respond when the heat is on. They should take notes from Simmo and Gibbs who were excellent.
Bootsma needs a rest maybe sub next week
It's hurting that we have Waite, Casboult, Mitchell, Thornton and Rowe unavailable.
Henderson should have done better.

I hate losing but at least I saw genuine effort tonight.
Run was better, Simmo hit some form and Brock continues to do his job. Once the paper man (Warnock) went off, it upset our structure substantially. We lost a bit of adcendancy in the ruck and it allowed Taylor to go forward.
Once again, it came back to taking your chances. More scoring shots, more inside 50s and some absolute wasted opportunities in front of the goals.
Sometimes it goes your way (V Fremantle) and other times you have to suck it up. Considering the personnel missing, it was a good effort.

We get no 'advantage' in the air from our big men - 8 marks between Kreuzer, Hampson and Warnock. Amazing the difference between Hampson's good and bad games. Hampson took 1 @#$%&! mark for the night! His opponent gave enormous run out of defence...20 touches to Scarlett. So not only did he not mark anything, he also barely chased. He was a liability. When can we expect him to show some consistency?

Time to not lose our cool and remember this season is finished as far as a flag threat. All that matters is seeing who can make a difference next year. Based on tonight, at least 3 younger ones will and Brock too.

And welcome back to football Mr Gibbs. Solid game.

Simpson a standout.

I don't agree. That game we should have won but for seriously bad kicking for goal and their three coast to coast goals in the last rom our behinds.

Footy is a shit game when the gods point the ball at the post and 4 points go begging.

We have WCE after a 6 day break and they have the bye this week. I think we can write that one off. We then have the bye. During that time we may get Carazzo and Waite back. We lost Warnock, which was a blow but they seem to think it is a corkie so he should be OK ifit is for next week.

The trick is to not get thrashed and drop too much percentage. We have a tough month ahead but after that it gets better. Meanwhile the top teams have to play each other. Murphy is the problem and Judd. Judd is a shadow of his last year's self and there has to be a reason for it. It isn't the tag. he's used to it. He must have a niggle. if not, he should play forward for a few weeks where he can get possessions that can lead to goals. I wonder if he has just had a gutful of carrying the team for so long and just feels spent.

If we have a bit of luck and a fair wind we may get over Hawthorn, who are a bit up and down. Like us. If we are eighth after the H&A, the season starts afresh. Away finals? Not fun but they are not impossible.

I think if we can get out best team on to the park at any time this year, we are still a chance to cause some headaches in September. The critical time is the next few weeks and out good percentage, worth a game so we have to protect it even when we lose.

We may have lost the game tonight but IMO there should be less doom and gloom on TC this week after the effort by the team we had available.

Yeah he had a HUGE hand in the 2.9 we kicked in the last quarter while he was rucking

This Season has taught us all a reality check lesson: Carlton is hardly about Judd.....

Our Number 1 player : Carrazo
Our Number 2 Player: Murphy
Our Number 3 Player: Waite
Our Number 4 Player: Judd

When you lose your top 3 for a lengthy period, that is a curse and bad luck. You can't expect to finish top 4. This season is as good as a Wash out for us. Our best positive Aim is to get back those top guys by the end of the year and Push hard to finish just inside the top 8.

I would be happy with 8th Position, although that seems quite a task

Crippled with so many blokes out, carrying blokes who are injured, blokes playing lacking pre-season's joining a couple of other out of form players. Only consolation is a few young blokes are getting games.

This is turning into the season from hell. Would've thought that after round 3, or even before round 7 when a win would've put us on top. Things turn to sh!t fast!

Watson goes ok
Coliins has a crack
Brock was good early
Eddie was good
Garlett tackled but nothing else
Walker got a lot but disposal was woeful
Ellard ok up to half time then got rolled
Gibbs beat Johnson
Hammer bad
Kruezer so so
Warnock was killing it to he wrnt off
Jamo is a worry at the moment
Touhy good in patches
Army impresses
Simmo back to his best
Boots has a go
Duigan was better
Robbo was poor
Yarran missed 2 he should have got
Judd quiet first half big last quarter
Joseph worries me
Hendo provided a target but if he is forward he needs to kick goals

Overall poor kicking killed us and our ability to stop them from scoring from kick outs

Very "common".

It's called racism.

Keep digging.

No complaint with effort, nothing changes from what I've said this week, structure was there but not utlised as Effes said. That's a coaching problem.

Coaches should instruct players to kick goals, not points.

Fair dinkum, you blokes can't see past one single factor, everything has to relate back to the coack.

If we kicked 7.4 instead of 2.9 we win the game, but instead you have to try to tie everything back to the coach so you can come back here each week and act like you know more than the coach.

!@#$%& me!

a team with a proper forward structure may have kicked 7.4

we kick it to the pocket, or have nobody to kick to at all

Bingo!

We tried hard, not good enough. Such a wasted year! If you had of told me we weren't going to make the 8 after the collingwood game I'd have sent ya to the loony house! Now I feel like I need to go there. Don't think I can handle being a spectator this September!
