Not older - but 1/2 a game accross all players

Wouldn't want to be clinging to this stat

Any time this season the opposition has fielded an older side we have lost.

Things can only get worse as we're losing an almost 32 year old Scotland with over 220 games and Geelong fielded a significantly older and more experienced side than us last week.

Had a couple days to cool down, and my thoughts;

We showed absolutely no ticker. Nothing. Port intimidated us from the outset. They held, scragged, pushed and pulled, and I can't recall any of our blokes doing it back.

Our structure at the start was very average. Bower forward, McLean forward, Yarran on the bench. We got smashed early in the clearances, and Brock is pooncing around the forward line. Bower was running around like a headless chook. Had no idea what he was doing. Hampson is a football retard. Gave away a few frees, and a 50 for getting sucked in by Ports niggling.

We dropped easy marks, our reliable kicks like Simmo / Scotto turned it over again and again. Judd tried all game, but not one Carlton bloke ran to his taggers and smashed 'em. Not one....softcocks.

Bootsma was our hardest bloke out there which is a pretty sad indictment. Watson played OK, one bad kick out on the full, but generally showed a fair bit. The indigenous boys did @#$%&! all. Frontrunners.

Gibbs is shot. Nothing to give at all. Very disappointed.

Just a real dirty night out. Port fans are flowers too.....

Spoke to a Port player at the SANFL on Sunday, about the game, and he said they know Carlton fold like a pack of cards when the going gets tough so that's what they did. Work 'em over. The whole AFL know we're soft...disgusting.

Carlton have been renowned throughout the years of having some of the toughest bastards to play the game, now we're renowned for being a team of softcocks....

It's difficult to argue with the Port players assessment.

This week we play against the collision football kings.

Their contested possie stats are down but I don't see it making a diff.

Cats will win, but I would love for us to have a go for a whole game.

It's been a few years now that we've been seen as a soft team that wilts when pressure is applied.

Other teams have players who work taggers over.
Other teams have players who provide screens and blocks.
Other teams have players who are genuinely hard at the contest 100% of the time.

How many of these players do we have?

There is no way the 22 we put out this week to play the Cats will win. Even with blokes back from injury. They will be underdone and probably worse than their c grade replacements.

We can only hope we play with a bit of heart but i can see hearts being broken very early. Maybe showing a bit of body language that indicates that the players out there are thinking about football
and not just playing out the year so they can get some money together for a year long backpacking trip around the globe next year will be a good start to a rebuild.

If Ratts manages to find two key forwards from somewhere excluding Hampson who is doing a good job then we are a chance, we might not win but value solid structure and dont rate Geelong's bottom 30%..past few losses have depended goals from Betts and Garlett who are our leading goalkickers not a key forward kicking goals anywhere to be found...Hampson is not a key forward..more a resting ruckman..but yeah if we field the same structureless team we did on Saturday we will get hammered, players will lose confidence first 20 minutes.

That is an indictment on our players, coaches and club. Hardly a new issue too. As competitive beasts, I just don't get how the players can live with this?

He wont find those players this week though j. .

On paper we will not compare to the cats line up. Nowhere near it. On the field will be similar.

Effort is the best we can hope for.

Not talking about age. Our current lineup is rubbish.

Geelong are playing a pretty young side, us.

Geelong fielded the third oldest side last week, with a couple of experienced players dropping out as well.

club are you really trying to tell us that with a few players out. we are rubbish?

they are not all front line players out!some are unproven or average!

Murphy played games and was not playing to a level needed!

people said the pre season didn't indicate Jack!

what's wrong?

Perhaps you've hit it on the head Verbs?
We'll put Craig Bradley and John Nicholls into our team this week and we'll be certainties!

Don't think we will be allowed to do that.
