We showed absolutely no ticker. Nothing. Port intimidated us from the outset. They held, scragged, pushed and pulled, and I can't recall any of our blokes doing it back.
Our structure at the start was very average. Bower forward, McLean forward, Yarran on the bench. We got smashed early in the clearances, and Brock is pooncing around the forward line. Bower was running around like a headless chook. Had no idea what he was doing. Hampson is a football retard. Gave away a few frees, and a 50 for getting sucked in by Ports niggling.
We dropped easy marks, our reliable kicks like Simmo / Scotto turned it over again and again. Judd tried all game, but not one Carlton bloke ran to his taggers and smashed 'em. Not one....softcocks.
Bootsma was our hardest bloke out there which is a pretty sad indictment. Watson played OK, one bad kick out on the full, but generally showed a fair bit. The indigenous boys did !@#$%& all. Frontrunners.
Gibbs is shot. Nothing to give at all. Very disappointed.
Just a real dirty night out. Port fans are !@#$%& too.....
Spoke to a Port player at the SANFL on Sunday, about the game, and he said they know Carlton fold like a pack of cards when the going gets tough so that's what they did. Work 'em over. The whole AFL know we're soft...disgusting.Carlton have been renowned throughout the years of having some of the toughest bastards to play the game, now we're renowned for being a team of softcocks....
That is an indictment on our players, coaches and club. Hardly a new issue too. As competitive beasts, I just don't get how the players can live with this?
